Thunderace, how do you justify yourself going 10 over the limit but 30 over is some horrific crime that shouldn't even enter our minds (unless on a racetrack, of coarse)

We as humans are an exploratory group of beings. We want to feel things that we havn't before. We want to try new things. You had your chance and have now moved on. And good for you for doing that. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. But should the next guy not be able to, if he so chooses, have a few fleeting seconds of riding 100 in a 70 just to see what it feels like, without the posability of a punishment that outweighs the crime? Sure the guy that rips around at 30, 40, or 50 over the limit all the time needs to or will loose his license and bike (if not his life)

It just sounds a bit overboard and unbalanced to me.

I have two speeding tickets in my car for over 30 over. In rural areas of IN and IL, there are roads that are JUST like interstates, but since they do not have the "I" in front of the name, they only have a speed limit of 55mph.

So basically, everyone goes about 70. It's totally safe to go faster.

I don't know how they justify calling 30 over a mandatory reckless driving in some states. I also don't know how they can justify taking your motorcycle license away for that shit.

And they don't just impound your bike. They would have the right to CRUSH it if they wanted to.

They voted on this yesterday. Anyone know the verdict?

It's a good thing this is Florida we're talking about here. They will never have to worry about that first sentence happening lol.

This is a law that has gone to far. Your guilty of speeding, everyone on this board has and will go way past 30 over the speed limit.
I never said I didn't speed, I said I try not to speed but if I do its usually only 10 over. I woke up late today so I drove 10 above to get to work a little quicker....I live approx. 30-40 minutes from work.

I thought the law in FL is for all vehicles. If its for just motorcycles then I agree, its BS. It should be for all vehicles.

Again, theres no reason to be doing 65 in a 35 zone. The back country roads around here have 55 mph or 45mph. thats fast enough to be going where deer and shit could be jumping out. Like I said before, at the most I would go 10 over.

There's a time and place for everything. One should not lose their license for 10 years just because they got caught ONCE doing 30 over somewhere.
Hey, I admit it. I did a lot of stupid shit as a teenager but I've learned and that's whats important. Thats why I dont see a need to do 30 over.

I dont justify it. I know going 10 over is wrong and I'm willing to accept the ticket if I get pulled. If they made the law in NC saying I can't go 30 over or I'll lose my vehicle then I would be scared to go 30 over. That's what its meant to do. Just like VA setting fines at $1000 or more. It's meant to scare people to do the speed limit. A little fine never scared me growing up so I recieved a bunch of tickets at a young age. If I would have been told that my car could be seized for the illegal street racing scene I would have never gone to the races. It would have scared me but fines didn't. Of course now that I'm older fines scare me lol.

Does anyone know if this law is for just motorcycles or all vehicles?

I agree that some speeds to be upped on some roads and some need to be lowered. In my experience, the speed on a road is 35 people will be going 10-15 over that. The state changes the speed to 45. Guess what, people are still doing 10-15 over. It happened in my home town. Another road was 45 and they upped it to 65. When it was 45 people were doing 70. Now that its 65 they are doing 80-90. No matter what the speed limit is people will always try to go faster then the limit.

you guys can argue it's not fair till you turn blue in the face...you can thank your buddies that wheelie down the highway and speed every chance they get and run from the cops for the laws about to rain down upon you. don't fight the system, fix the problem where it started. YOUR BUDDIES and YOU. but now it's too late.

How can California or Florida even be considered for that title without considering Wisconsin or Illinois? You can't carry a firearm in those states!!

This is likely due to a recent accidents involving high speed.

In Tampa a motorcyclist hit an SUV at over 100mph in a 45mph zone, killed himself and the driver of the vehicle, this was just a few days ago.

I feel its a good idea, as long as it applies to cars as well, not just bikes.
