Co-worker bit the road today

A co-worker was on his way to the bike shop to get a new master link for his chain today. On the way there the like failed and threw the chain into his rear wheel and locked it up. He went down with just some road rash and a broken ego.

My point of raising this up is to make sure your chain is in good order. He is a new rider and is learning the in and outs of maintance. The chain is only one week old. The shop told him that his rear sproket was in good condition and he only need a new chain. I looked at the sproket today and it looked like shark fins. There was almost no teeth left which caused the chain to ware extremly fast. I think the shop should be held accountable and replace the chain AND sproket.

I am just glad things were not as bad as they could have been.

sorry to hear that. any time you replace the chain, you also replace the sprockets FT and rear.

i recommend www.sprocketcenter.com decent price, BUT they cut the chain to length, and usually have the stuff in stock.
