Default Do race plastics really save 15-20 pounds? Or is it the lights?

SBN claims that they shed 20 pounds on their 675 build up by going with racew plastics. I find it hard to believe that plastics can save that much, considering how thin and light today's plastics are. So my question is, is most of the weight due to removing all the lights, rear seat, etc?

From SBN's main page:

"Just the bodywork dropped the bike to 381 lbs full of fuel. If you’ve never felt what 20 lbs dropped off of the top of a bike does to it’s flick-ability, do yourself a favor and lose some weight. Otherwise, get some race bodywork and head to the track, chubby."

Plastics are not thin and light...They're thick and heavy...They have to be, otherwise, every little pebble that hits your bike would make a nice little crack...And then you'd be crying to the dealer that they made a shitty product...If you still have your stock wind screen, go outside and take a look at how thick it is...Then look at an aftermarket screen...Complete different worlds of thickness...

But to answer your full question, yeah, it's everything...The lights, the rear seat, the blinkers, hell, the front seat can be changed...All those things are big and bulky and weight alot more than aftermarket stuff...But it's because they have to...
