General SportbikesThis area is made for sportbikes in general. Posts that dont really belong anywhere else besides here. Questions can be answered and addressed to fully understand certain aspects. If your question is Manufacturer specific please post it there.
yeah, pink accents is cool with me but all pink would be a little too pretentious (sp?) a little extra notification that you're awoman rider, proud of it, and skilled is fine but screaming "LOOK AT ME, I'M A CHICK!!!!!" is excessive.
If you have to ask strangers about the color, you probably have reservations. No one can make the decision or justification for you. Go for what you want and don't give a damn what others think!
It's sickening that females so easily herd themselves along like sheep by adopting this color as a staple of their femininity. Few seem to be able to resist the socio-economic conditioning that paints the portrait of their individuality for them with a single color.
I don't hate the color, but when I see it I'm reminded of what it represents in America. Highly irritating.
Yeah fair enough, i see your'e point there... not hating on you... I guess you've already made up your mind anyway, just more looking for re-confirmation of youre ideas which is cool.
WOW i can't believe this thread gone 3 pages since yesterday.
No problem, I know not everyone likes pink, shoot, i'm still not sure i could put up with pink on mine, cause i usually like serious looking colours...but i thought i should think about more playful options.
pink and black was what had crossed my mind...something flame-ish but not flames...that is so common...so when that guy on page 1 suggest pink black and white camo...that made me smile, like yeah, that could be something.
resale value is definitely something to think about...so on that note, i'm rethinking the pink thing. a guy bought my last bike. it is severely limiting to have pink anywhere on the bike...unless it's such a WICKED design that men damn their manhood and want it anyway. i always think i'll never sell the next one, but you never know. just like i would have never seen myself selling the first one...
would any guy buy a bike with traces of pink? HINTS of pink? lol.
People personalize everything these days, so why not? Though you might want to just use pink decals (flames/tribal/whatever) for an accent, so you don't limit your resale value.
I would never ride a pink bike! I don't like colors... Mine is black and only black
i find all black bikes (more specifically, the all black r1s) sexy, but in my mind, ridiculously unsafe. I would never want an all black bike. Good excuse for jackasses to f*ck you up one night out. Or even one day.
Seeing the thread, it reminded me of somthing I saw on the readers digest website
*DEAD*!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
oh god i'm near tears laughing...
yeah, i don't get why so many in this thread are downing the attention factor, when the msf course will clearly tell you wear sh*t that gets the attention of the folkson the road...hello, why you think bikes come in more bright colours and hardly any "tame" colours to begin with? Can't tell when last I saw a bike sold stock with muted pastels as normal options.
And yes, I agree, a pepto bismol bike would upset my stomach. I pictured that for a second and got a little queasy, so it will NEVER be THAT. lol.

'Nuff said.
to give people who share my interest in bikes the opportunity to share their opinion on a bike related thought i'm having. same as the reason for any other thread started here.
and yeah, i have reservations, because i've usually had an aversion to too much pink, and i know i had to overcome stereotypical thoughts about girls with pink bikes.
we all ask each other's opinions on here. doesn't mean the majority vote of sbn wins it for me, but if i see some ideas i hadn't thought of (such as resale value)...of course i am going to use it. we need to care what other riders (meaning those who have gone the path before us) think because it's their advice that can save money, or save your life. despite some of the negative snobby attitudes displayed towards simple questions on this site, i learn a lot AND have my fun and laughs from posts on here. Yeah it's not real life but in real life, for example, where can i find this many female riders in one place?
I don't think anyone should down the color. No on ever says the all black looks says "Look...I'm a bad dude"! Everyone is getting on your case because they hate pink! As for me, I just feel you're wasting your time asking opinions. Since we don't know you or anything about you, NO ONE is qualified to make the decision but YOU!
Just for the record, I think people who dress to match their bikes are just saying "Ohhhh...look at me...look at me"!
They sicken me!
Do what you want, it's your bike and your choice. If you want pink, that's cool with me. When I see a woman on a pink bike or wearing pink, no what it means to me?
NOTHING! She (and you) ride your own bikes. THAT'S all that matters to me.

I personally find the color fuscia (which is the majority of the "pinks" being represented here) is disgusting! However, if you did something more like a cotton candy pink as an accent color, that would be pretty cool. Maybe even just to have some design painted over top of a black base with a pink pearl effect to create the design, so that when the sun hits it you see the shimmer of pink, would be pretty clutch. It would give it a "ghost" efect in the design, and still give you the pink that you may or may not want! My $.02

nobody knows me so i'm wasting my time asking opinions? nobody should down the colour but it's okay to down me for posting a bike related topic on the forum? what kind of hypocritical foolishness is that? does most of sbn KNOW each other personally? am i outside of some clique that is the only set allowed to ask opinions?
And i guess the professional racers sicken you then, because they are the original ones who wear their colours matching.
...if you want to be on an all black bike and then dark grey gear just to prove you don't care about matching and are bending over backward to avoid attracting attention, fine. Not safe, no matter how mature you think you're being, but fine. It's your choice. last i remember from the msf book, it encourages people to wear bright colours, just like they tell joggers to wear light or bright clothing and reflective material. nobody calls them attention whores for, say, matching a white sports brassiere to the white stripe in their black bottoms...
Who i think says look at me are the guys who ride with no helmet (special occasions such as a show or organized display excepted). Especially the ones who ride with the helmet strapped to the bike (and I don't mean the spare).
It doesn't bother me if people come in here and say they hate pink bikes because they feel the girl is overdoing it...what is rude and out of order is coming in here questioning my right to post.
