I would have said the exhaust because it sounds so good, but after a long spirited ride today I have to say the new forks and calipers. Turn in felt so much more precise, and the brake feel/response was much better.

1st brakes
2nd suspension

My bike makes a ton of power I like to stop when I have to. And what's the point of having all that power if I can't get it to the ground?

My favorite mod is *lots* of usage. Seen here camping at Yosemite.

Second favorite is braided steel brake and clutch lines (if your bike doesn't come with them already).

My favorite mod was changing to gp shift. From now on, that will be the first thing that gets changed on every bike I buy.

Hmm, well let's list the mods and accessories first so I can pick one.

Braided brake lines, front and rear
Upgraded suspension (progressive springs)
Yellowbox odometer fixer
5 function meter (temp and battery are the ones I care about)
12 volt plug
Accent lights
Heated grips
GPS
Gerbings
Autocom
Stebel horn
Blue Sea fuse box
Headlight modulator
Tourtank 5 gallon gas tank
Givi trunk

It's a tough call. They're all useful for their purpose or I wouldn't have them on the bike.

For safety, I think I like the modulator best. I don't ride that often at night so the accent lights aren't that helpful even though I like the look and I seldom get into a situation where I need the horn.

The Gerbings and heated grips are good for colder riding.

The GPS, Givi, extra gas tank, Autocom, and 12 volt plugs are great for touring, probably the Givi would be best because it's lockable.

Probably the headlight modulator would be the best mod. I know that my visibility has increased just by the number of left turners that have visibly hesitated and the number of folks that would have pulled out in traffic that have obviously delayed their entrance.

Yea. The modulator.

Jk750 and Acalliste.

Oh you mean motorcycle mod.

Don't know, yet - my bike is still stone stock. I'd have to say new grips when I finally pony up the 12-20 dollars for them.

Here's my favorite mod. First I changed it from 0 to 1. That was so much fun, I changed it from 1 to 2. I thought 2 looked good until I changed it to 3, and that looked MUCH better. I'm totally hooked now, this past weekend, I changed it about 900 times riding through Pennsylvania.

Seriously though, the only real "mod" I've done is braided brake lines. Aside from maintenance, any time I spend around the bike I spend riding, and any money I spend on the bike goes right in the gas tank. To me, if it's not functional, it's the equivalent of putting on makeup, and I don't wear makeup.

I have that mod too although mine says something like 61350

I'd have to look through the answers again, but what listed mods (mine or others) would you consider not functional? Possibly replacing the slipons since most people do it for the sound (yea yea "performance" : ). Oh wait, there was the chrome wheels But about the only real non-functional mods would be bling.

(Yea, I've taken heat over the accent lights and are a little defensive but I did think long and hard and felt they would improve visibility at night. Folks who've seen them IRL complement me on the look ).
