What part of the VIN makes it a 2003? Up to A, mine matches. They say it's registered as a 2003. I haven't seen it myself, so I don't know if it's actually Blue/White or Blue/Black. We all know they made 2003 Blue/Black and not Blue/White. So...I dunno. Either way, the bike is probably hot anyway. Even if it isn't mine, maybe the bike has been reported stolen by someone else and they'll let me buy it for dirt cheap.
the 10th digit is the year and in this case the 3 shows it as being a 2003. the part between the j and the 3 should be just about the same on all 2003's, yamaha has a check digit and i think all do its the numbers after the 3 that are different for each bike.
Damn, this sounds like an episode of COPS. I love it. Hats off to you, Twinsen, many people can't do much of anything when thier vehicle gets stolen, I'm glad you have a lead and are taking it. Good luck and I hope you get your GSXR back!
How'd you get the VIN? Is this the VIN on the guy's bike who you're chasing, or from your bike? Are you saying that the VIN doesn't match your's, or that this is the VIN that corresponds to the plate?

You've got the VIN from the registration, but that doesn't tell you anything about the bike he's RIDING.
If the plates are fake (from another bike), they could be anything. If he has valid registration for a 2003, and put it on a stolen 2004, most cops (all cops) won't know the damn difference anyway.
Its an old trick. buy a wrecked/totaled car/bike.... steal one like it (or similar) and when the plates get ran... noone knows the difference.
Only way you're gonna know is to get the VIN OFF the bike you think is yours.
GOOD LUCK!!

Yes, it's the VIN from the plates that were run. Yes, I am well aware that they could be from a friend's bike or just completely stolen. I wish I could see the bike myself. Especially in my car, in case he decided to run, I could at least keep up for a few minutes. Especially if he went in the turns, I'm willing to bet he can't ride the damn thing that well.

Wait on the side of a road with a long pole...then try and toss it into the front wheel that'll stop him.
Good luck though, don't get yourself killed. It's not worth it.

Good luck Twin, sounds like something's not-quite-right with the whole deal. Hopefully, if it's not *your* stolen bike, it's someone elses. Either way, that guy seems like a serious whack-job.
if u see him, try to get up close to him as possible as u can in a car that has tinted windows so he cant see u, but u can see him.. and you'll be able to find the Vin number on the side of the bike.. or what wct097 said " get someone to follow him on the bike"
