For everyone who missed it:

2.6 mph

That was Stoner's advantage in average top speed this weekend. Rossi fanboyism and silly assertions about skill not affecting straight line speed aside, the difference in top speed between Rossi and Stoner was tiny this week.

Yo must've missed the part of the race when they were on the straights, and the overhead shot showed the Duc just walk right past everything else...That's a power advantage, nothing more, nothing less...No skill to twist the wrist, just a lot of power...

Watch the race again. For most of the race Stoner would pull out of the draft after 1/4 of the straight then run neck and neck with Rossi until the braking zone. The only lap where Stoner walked past Rossi he hung back exiting the last turn and got a slipstream for 3/4 of the straight. If you really think there's no skill involved in going down the straights on a bike that will spin the tire or wheelie or both in every gear you're delusional. There's a reason Marco Melandri was trapping nearly 10 kph faster than Carlos Checa and it ain't power.

it takes absolutely ZERO riding skills to twist the throttle...It's all bike...

Taking a different line into the straight really does affect how fast you're going when you're halfway down it, especially on a track like Catalunya that has a chicane right before the straight!
