I've always thought a woman's low center of gravity was an advantage on a bike. The downside is less strength for throwing yourself around, but maybe that's offset by generally lighter weight?

I'm not one to judge since I haven't scraped anything but a toe when my back tire slid on me.

My feelers are long gone. I was dragging my feelers in the first couple months and they were too scary so I lost them.

taller diers get a knee down faster because they can get it down with less lean angle, but short, light riders are faster....pisses me off (6 foot 2, 275)

I'm 5'6" and can drag my knee at will at the Track. Good body position and lean angle is required to do this.
It's pretty obvious that a taller person with good body position will drag a knee easier (with less lean angle) than a shorter guy with the same body position.

Tonights homework assignment is to get a copy of a SBK, MotoGP or AMA race and REALLY watch the riders. There knees are NOT on the ground as much as you might think.
Yes they do drag them, but not a whole lot.
Most of the time they are tucking back in during the turn, lifting up the knee to avoid curbs or just keeping their knees barely off the ground.
I guess their legs are out there for "feelers" or lean angle guages.
I dunno really

Ehh I don't know about this. I'm 6'5", when im going the same speed around corners the shorter guys are draggin knee a lot, I hardly ever do. also, the taller you are, the higher up your knee is due to longer shins. This would make it more difficult in one sense. really though, who cares, i think its more body positioning than anything.

so far it looks like the general consensus is that its easier for tall people due to longer legs.

although, the poster above makes a good point about the length of the shin being longer. then again the thigh would be longer too, counteracting the length of the shin....

this thread makes me think of "what came first, chicken/egg"

not so much a good point as it is lack of thought

The only people saying height doesnt matter are the ones that cant grasp good form.

This doesnt have to do with what we are talking about but il bite

the reason their knees arent on the ground half the time is beause its a waste for such a good rider to have his knee down at a 65 degree lean. Thats childs play for the over 6 foot tall rossi. With that bike and those tires he is going to save his pucks for when he actually needs to know he is near the edge...
