Default Looking for a cheap set of tires to burn through?

http://www.ridenow.com/product/detai...paign=new+site

A set of Dunlop 208's (non-Qualifier) for the price of a good rear tire. I'm not a big fan of Dunlop's myself (running Pirelli Corsa III's on the track - nice tires!), but for this price I'd consider a set if I needed tires.

or you can take the stock ones from an ex250 and burn through them really quick, because youre going to want to pour gas on them and set em on fire because they suck.

That's not a bad price, but...

They should put those last remaining D208 tires in a museum of failed ideas. Right next to New Coke. The 208s did more to harm Dunlop's reputation than anything else in history.

Not that they're aweful tires, just that they never delivered on the promise of being better than the 207s, or 204s for that matter. And they sullied the name of the famous D208GP-A/JBL tires. Some people still confuse the two.

Dunlop does make some great tires, just not 208s. The company created and developed the first commercially viable pneumatic tire, although the distiction for its invention and patent goes back to Robert William Thomson.

I wish that deal was in my size. I'm always looking for deals on tires. Never paid full price yet. I always find $150 sets. Gotta stock up because I only get one track day out of each set. I commute, leisure ride, and track the same tires. So in between trackdays I already burn off enough tire to not pass tech.

The 208s aren't that bad. I can still get a knee down with them. Keep in mind I'm only in the novice group at the track, I'm sure a more skilled rider would demand more from tires. Plus I ride an SV, not exactly a powerhouse trying to break the rear loose.

Not just the rear you gotta worry about. The front slid a few times. Took forever to warm up compared to my Pilot powers. They wear quick compared to the PP and i only had em for 800 miles.

FTP, I suspect you got a bum set, they weren't properly inflated, had a puncture, or incorrectly mounted/balanced.

They're decent tires. Not good, but adequate. When I had them they warmed up to full operating temps in the first 3 easy laps. Long warm up, but that's okay with me.

And I could lean them far enough over to get my knee down.

Not as good as the Michelins, Contis, Pirellis, etc...but okay. More grip than your regular sport touring tire. And that's all most people really need.

I think the bad reputation comes from the warm-up times. On the street you will NEVER get them at full temps (unless you live by some great roads). To get satisfactory grip it probably takes 20 minutes of hard street riding. They're slippery when cold and suck in the rain.

But if you properly warm them up they perform just fine.

Them's great prices on those tires. I just bought some Road Attacks tires--$120 for the rear.

What about tire warm up in the summer? I notice that during the summer, when the temp hits above 90 degrees, my tires start tearing and bits and pieces of rubber hang off them. They look rough.

At lower temps my tires are as smooth as a baby's bottom.
