Comfort can make a tremendous difference especially for riders actually covering more ground on the street (actual riding time) . Less fatigue, more riding, better ability to maintain attention to what is going around you in traffic and therefore control. Another consideration is the ability to fine tune the bike by way of control adjustment, seating etc (ergonomics).

Depending on your intended use of the motorcycle thats why some of the sport-touring , naked or standard mounts are more "humane" rides in "real world" riding. Commuting, traveling as well as getting to the distant twistys without trailering your mount.

Look at aftermarket saddles (Sargents, Corbin, etc), windscreens, throttle controls etc.

the R1 is very comfortable however when i had mine it would but my throttle hand to sleep after 50 or so miles of highway riding. i guess what i'm saying is just because they feel good standing still doesn't mean they will be for your type of riding. always try to get a test ride before buying.

Comfort is might high on my list of things that I have to have as the joints just don't bend like they used to so I want with the bike in my avatar and have been very comfortable since I got it and yes it is a cruiser and not a sportbike.

Comfort is very important to me, that's why I bought the bike I have

I even tour on it, 80mi. a day at least!

Seriously though, I'd love to have a comfortable bike and be able to ride for more than 2 hours without having to come home and lay down on my back for a couple hours just to deal with the pain. Just can't bring myself to sell the bike and buy something more sport touring oriented, it would still be fun but the fun factor would not be nearly as high.

Does comfort matter to me? Uh... look at my sig.
A lot of the time I'm just fine with it, until I plan to do about 200 miles non-stop or more than 250 miles a day or so. Then my neck and my ass start to complain, but that's really not a big problem, just stop for five minutes (now ask me again in 5 years... ).

That said, I'm still planning on getting a V-Strom whenever the hell I can afford one for commuting/touring so the R6 can get even more track oriented.

I say comfortability is about 40% for me. I am conditioned to my bike and can put on many miles in one day and feel fine. Plus I have to fill up my bike every 120-130 miles, so that gives me a 10 minute break!

Comfort is extremely important to me. I commute daily so most of the supersport 600s were out of the question when I was looking for a bike.

It was a toss up between the Honda F4i and the YZF600R. The YZF has the all-day comfort I was looking for.

Important enough to me that I sold an F4i and bought a naked SV with handlebars!

Now its not that hot for a long freeway ride, but for backroads and commuting there is no question.

My next bike will probably be more of a touring bike. FJR, concours, etc... Commute + longer weekend rides.

Comfort is definetely high on my list. My back is not as forgiving as it used to be, and I don't want to spend the next hour after a ride trying to stand up straight. My F4i is not the most comfortable but it is not bad. Have to make compromises. I bought a Corbin seat and it is much better than stock.

Did you seriously just talk about comfort and a 600rr in the same post? Their seats seemed to be the absolute biggest POS out of triumph 675/zx6r/r6/gsxr600/600RR with triumph in a close second for "seat's that may as well be comcrete"

That said, the seating position of my 250 vs the 636 is a HUGE difference - lean angles/bar-length, etc. I find the 636 more comfortable, but perhaps that is my height speaking. My legs are fine on either, but I like the seating/bar position on the 636 better.

If I were more of a tourer i definitely would not be on a true sport bike by any means though.
