Real men ride (insert).
So the wife and I go to the step-son's pre-season ball games. We decide to take the bikes and get all geared up for the short ride to the ball park, planning on a longer ride afterwards. So as we arrive we see a free parking spot up close, next to a Burgmann, so we take it. As we approach the bleachers we notice everyone staring at us like we just fell off of mars. Might be because we were covered in what the layman would assume is cold weather gear (jackets, mesh pants, gloves) in 75 degree weather, or because my Oxtars squeak and creak very loudly.
I notice every time I walk in front of the bleachers to the concession stand to get coffee, there is this hairy old guy staring me down. I mean this guy was throwin' the stink-eye, big time. As I get closer to him I see the bar, shield and wings on his hat. And of course the wifey is decked out in all of her finery. Motor Company official apparel!
"Great, he's trying to be all tough and Hardley, act like a biker...........I'll say hi"
Of course I get ignored. Actually I think I may have been sneered at (who sneers nowadays?).
Now normally I don't judge, but the stares I was gettin from this guy, you wouldn't believe.
So as the game comes to a close, we see tough guy and his wife get up and walk to the parking lot. I expect him to get into a broke down ass truck or a Cadillac, never can tell around here.
But what does tough guy go to?
Yep, straight to the Burgmann.
Oh the chuckles I got outta this one. Had to share.
I get alot of looks riding in gear, it was 87 degrees in atlanta yesterday, I am riding next to harley guys in tshirts, I am in mesh jacket with full armor, gloves, full helmet, jeans with armor under, and sturdy boots.
But I got a couple thumbs up, Im ingnoring the haters, they dont know what rash feels like. I havent felt any since the early 90's but that wasnt even long enough to forget the pain.
I am finding most harley guys now give them low peace sign, back in the late 80's early 90's sportbikers got the finger.
another funny thing, he had to walk it backwards and then he re-parked the scooter after we parked next to him.. I guess he didn't want his scooter to feel inferior next to the superhawk and sv..
