Default Painted windscreen

I'm painting my bike and am thinking about painting the windscreen as well. Anyone have a painted screen and either love it or hate it? Mine is all yellowed and looks like crap so it's either paint it or get a new one. Unless someone can tell me how to get the yellow out that is. I don't think it would bother me if I couldn't see out of it I just wanted some other opinions.

its gonna suck but you can do it.

Wipe down your screen with simple green and then sand it with 600 grit paper. Then spray paint it and add spray paint clear.

Its not going to stick the greatest because its acrylic but itll work. If you had a newer bike Id just sell you one of my carbon ones..........

Hold up before you get to far..

Are you painting it the same color as your bike?
OR
Are you going to paint it black?

I was probably just gonna paint it blue with the rest of the bike. I thought about painting it black. That'd be cool. But it may look good the same as the bike. It's a tough call.

I can't see through it that well now anyway so I don't think i'd notice.

I would just get a clear one and be done with it. It is a big headache trying to get the paint to stick.

My bike is flat black as is the windshield ["underneath part/side" obviously]. You can't even really tell where the windshield starts looking at it from the outside if it's dark at all outside.

Even if I put the chin of my helmet on the tank I can't look through the shield anyhow.

Before I got my new screen, I painted mine flat black on the underside. Looked ok as far as I was concerned. Like others have said, if you don't scuff up the side you're painting, it'll start to flake off and look like garbage.

If you are going to paint the wind screen make sure you paint the inside of it.
this way you don't have to worry about scratching the paint.

Just make sure you clean the surface with dish soap and hot water and dry it well. The paint still sicks to mine with no sign of flaking off. Paint on a few layers and it should look great.

I painted mine a flat black from the inside and i get compliments all the time.

Before & After
Stock screen with a rattle can of semi-gloss black on the inside.

.

Stock screens are cheap enough, get you a clear one and shoot it on the inside and see what ya got.

Good luck.

Wow, wait a minute.

1989 stock windscreen....cheap.
Maybe not. I don't know.

Raized can you tell us exactly what steps you used to paint that. And how old is it? How is it holding up?

I did it back in Dec.
Scotch Bright LIGHTLY then just spray it very thinly with many coats.
