Default COLD WEATHER SUCKS! - I rode to work tonight.. burrrr

Ok guys, so I walked outside around 9:30pm and figured, eh.. it's not too cold. I could strap on some warm clothes, put on the jacket helmet n gloves and ride to work...

Work is about a 45 minute drive from where I live....

I started off fine, and honestly was warm for about the first 20 minutes. Then I got completely freezin ass cold! I guess I "mis-judged" the temp...

Anyways, I cant wait for it to warm up. Im sitting here at work now at 12:11am (i work the overnight shift) hoping that it will be at least a few degrees warmer in the morning when I ride home! It's definitely my fault, but i cant help but take the bike out. There is no riding season for me.. i ride every chance i get. I'm going to pick up some new riding pants or something to keep my legs warm... i'll be fine once i get them.

Anyone else ride as cold as it is out? What's the coldest you've rode in, and the longest distance you've rode in?

I rode a week ago for about an hour in town and it was about 32 out, the only thing that gets uncomfortable on me is my hands because I dont have any winter riding gloves, i'm using some A* mesh summer gloves, my fingers go about numb in 5 mins.

if you've got metal frame sliders, just rest your hands on them until they're warm again. oh and wear thermals/long johns under your jeans. make sure you get a baclava or a bandana to cover your neck

I rode 245 miles in high 20 to low 30 degree weather once. Took me all day, I stopped every 30 minutes to warm up somewhere, rest stops, dunkin donuts, malls, anywhere.

I would have avoided it if I could, but I was transferring schools and had to get the bike there somehow.

As for my regular riding, I try to avoid sub 30 degree days. I typically ride about 2-5 times a week in the winter given that the snow has been plowed.

Lately I haven't been riding, the cold front that hit the Northeast has my bike sidelined for a bit.

I honestly have trouble some days too... today i'm ok because im STILL pretty damn cold. My girlfriend thinks im crazy... i'm beginning to think shes right... lol.

So yeah, you said it really... youtube.com, sportbikes.net, and maybe a few others in between.

My shift goes like this:
- Come in to work around 10:30pm
- Talk to co-workers about work and other stuff til like 11:30pm or so
- Take a break, talk to girlfriend before she goes to bed, til about 12am
- Do some actual work for a while, then around 1am I hit up sportbikes.net
- From 1am - 3am, knodding off, almost passing out, sportbikes.net, youtube.
- Around 3am or so, usually take a nap during my lunch in my truck....when i have it.
- Then I come back in, get a drink, maybe get some Dunkin Donuts
- Do some more work til like 5:30am, browse websites off and on
- Almost pass out, then NEW co-workers start coming in early shift, wake me up
- I talk to them til I leave lol

Hey, guys...coldest I rode in was about 30 degrees for about 20 miles. It sucked. Hey thatguyx, I'm from Jersey, too, although I'm in CO, now. Didn't ride much in winter back then, though. Like you guys, I work late (1600-0200). I'm a network technician. I spend a lot of time surfing and watching tv shows to keep awake...at least until something goes wrong with the network and I have to fix it!

That's whats up man.. when you coming back to good ol' Jersey?

With so many people in the northern east area (Delaware/Jersey/PA/MD)...we should all work up a ride sometime.

Anyways....

Man, it's been 12 years and I miss NJ something fierce! The Mrs. says "no way", tho. She hates the East Coast winter! But, I'm out there every now and then visiting the kin folk.
