Default Custom Paint Job?

How much would a custom paint job cost on a R1? Would I have to take off the tank and body panels and bring them into the shop or would I just bring the whole bike into the paint shop?

Do you guys have pics of your custom paint jobs?

How much will Paint Cost? lots of info here
"If Japan, Italy, and Germany did product development the same way that Harley Davidson does, there wouldn't be Honda, Ducati, or BMW bikes. There wouldn't be VCRs, mini-TVs, or Sony Walkmans. We'd all still be listening to wind up phonographs and watching black and white TV through vacuum tubes. And we'd be paying thousands of dollars for it and each one would be named "American Heritage Edition FGXLR TV" or something equally lame." Christopher T. Shields

This place says about $1200 to custom paint a sportbike.
Sounds kind of high but it looks like they do quality work.

edit: Here's an R1 they did up.

I paid 200 for my last paint job. Looks FANTASTIC. It's only one color, though... so that helps.

I did all the bodywork and prep work myself, though. That's the hard part. The spraying is the least amount of labor in the whole process.

So there's not a simple answer to that question. It really depends.

Sand paper + 2 spray cans of automobile primer + 2 spray cans of satin black = $15

Messing up aforementioned custom paint job because you dripped some gas on the tank = priceless

Spending 30 minutes with leftover spray can to redo the whole tank to like new condition = free
