I go to work at this time and I can attest to this; I keep my eyes WIDE fucking open at that time of night; people simply run stop signs and redlights when it is that late.

That may be true, but I'd be willing to wager that for every one drunk driver you have another hundred who just don't have the skills required to drive. People are increasingly complacent; they talk on their cell phones, they act fucking insane at minor events on the road (Road raging bitch that wrecked me, for instance), they fail to signal, they fail to yield, they completely disregard the road and opt to talk to friends in the backseats, they do their make-up, they make out with their significant other...they basically do everything BUT pay attention to what they should be paying attention to in the first place.
It's an epidemic and nothing is happening to fix it. I'd rather see those random teeny-boppers who are chatting it up and doing their make-up get pulled over than someone who is doing 15~20mph over the speed limit but paying attention, yielding, and signalling properly.

What does any of this have to do with compulsory rider training making people more likely to wear helmets?

...perhaps showing them the after-effects of a low-speed crash with and without one will change some minds. It's not a very hard concept to understand.

iowa does not have a helmet law but we should, personally i think it would save lives, the last few fatal accidents around here the riders/passenger were not wearing a helmet

Uh, did you not go through school for driver's ed? Did you not see the films of accidents? It doesn't stop people from doing it.
I am willing to accept responses that are in any way, shape or form pertaining to the post. Your had NOTHING to do with it, it was just a rant on drivers.
