my buddy is in the process of looking for a new bike and asked me if I knew of such a thing and I didn't know. so here I am asking you guys if there is such a place or website that will help??

Im not sure but I wouldn't rely on that because its ussually cheaper on the pocket book to fix the damage yourself if its not a total write off then claim it with insurrance otherwise your rates go up. So look for damage yourself, frame scratches etc etc

He is right, but if the bike was ever total or salvaged, it would tell you. I think you can just run the vin through carfax.

When I bought my bike I just went to carfax.com, punched in the vin and it works, told me the year make and model etc, you have to buy the actual report with all the info though.
