I think this has less to do with street racing and more to do with enough stupid people at the same place at the same time.

just a side note, one person on that thread said that a helmet could have made a difference...everyone else shot that down immediately. I side with that guy, a helmet COULD have made a difference. Even if you are doing 150, if you hit the side of a car and are thrown OVER the car and tumble down the road, I think you could live through it if you are wearing a helmet. Hell, you see 190 mph getoffs on MOTO GP races and the guys get back up and try to get back in the race. Granted, they are wearing a lot of good protection....but I think someone could survive a tumble like that if he was wearing a helmet. Sure, the rest of his body would be seriously fucked up.

1 guy got cut in 1/2 and the other burned to death. the helmet wouldn't have helped.

Is the cut in 1/2 thing due to the fact he may have had that little rubber strip off of the windscreen.... Mine kept coming loose and flapping a little, so I took it off... I dont wanna get cut in 1/2!

The guy that burned to death had to have hit hard and stoped, otherwise he'd have slid far away from the bike and the fire. (un?)luckily for him he was probably unconcious while he burned, or was allready gone...

Damn, that is messed up. R.I.P. They may have been doing something stupid, but it didn't have to cost them their lives.

Raw deal. One person posted on the board stated the driver of the red car failed to yield to right of way. I'm thinking, depending on the type of road, and the sight line, if the bikes were going 100+ mph, the driver of the red car might not have seen the bikes initially, pulled out, saw them fast approaching. At that point, human reaction can only take them so far.
