I LOVE the Euro mags. do they offer American subscriptions? Only complaint I have is they have naked chicks through out the mag and have kids, I don't want to expose them to something like that.
So what I would like is a Euro mag that talks about sports bikes, tech and gear but minus the naked chicks. Any suggestions?
They probably watch killing all day on TV what's a little TNA?
The mags I prefer:
Roadracing World - Excellent
BIKE - Excellent
Performance Bike - Great, used to be excellent before Ronnie died
TWO - Excellent
Motorcycle Racer - Great
Sport Rider - OK
Cycle World - Good
Motorcyclist - OK
Basically, if it's a Brit mag it will be high quality, interesting and intelligent with good humor. If it's American, it will be crappy quality, interesting on occasion, dumded down and full of jokes that even a stoner wouldn't crack a smile at. Doesn't anyone else find Mitch Boehm to be horrible writer/editor with nothing new from him ever???

Cycle World and Motorcyclist suck .......... I still receive both. If you have the money, the European magazines Performance Bikes and BIKE are great. Both dedicated to sportbikes, news, parts, and reviews. Too many advertisements and old school stories in the U.S. magazines.
hmm,
All of these responses and no one mentioned "Road Racer X" ?? I love this mag, and it's the only one I maintain a subscription to...
They have coverage of all sportbike racing, including MotoGP and WSB... and even more importantly they have rider columns. Nicky Hayden, Jason DiSalvo and Colin Edwards all have monthly columns... They do gear reviews and the likes, but mostly turn their focus on race coverage...

I get CycleWorld, which is okay I guess, and I just ordered a subscription to rider, never heard of it, but at 12 bucks a year even if it blows completely I'm not out much.
Yes there's usually a topless centerfold. On ocassion the centerfold is in lingerie. I guess I misunderstood the orginal question. .
When the magazine arrives couldn't you just rip out the centerfold?
Yes, Wild Style, I think you should do that. Then send them to meeee I'll even pay for postage
But seriously, I have a sub to T.W.O., it was a promo thing I guess from Haywood Marketing (their distributor?), and it was only $49.50, about half the newstand price. I get it every month, in a mailer so it comes in looking like it just left the presses.
It's my fave bike mag by far, even if they don't have any centerfolds (I love British girls; when they got all their teeth they're amazing! j/k I do love 'em.) The photography alone - in any UK mag, really - beats anything in the American rags. I hate to say that, but it's true. And the writing is much wittier and more insightful.
I also sub to Motorcyclist, though - my sis gave me a sub back in '03, and I renewed 'cause it's at least halfway decent and lets me get all the bike names straight for the U.S. The UK mags call the bikes by different names, like the FZ6 is the Fazer over there.

Rider's one of the better ones, too. I think you'll like it.

I subscribe to Cycle World and Motorcyclist. Of the two big American mags I prefer Cycle World just because I enjoy reading it more. Of course I think its focus has changed towards older riders - mostly because the guys who write for it are baby boomers- and I have to say I'm starting to get tired of constantly reading about this person's 1972 Ducati or that person's Norton. If I want to read stuff about old bikes, I'll buy Walnek's.
At the same time, Motorcyclist has gotten more and more juvenile. Not just youth focussed, but actually more juvenile. I feel like it's written by a bunch of frat guys. I guess that would be fine if I was in with the "in crowd" but I'm not.
I can pick up the Japanese mags, but usually don't bother anymore. I can read quite a bit, but I just don't enjoy struggling through them. One nice thing is that occasionally the publishers here print special editions that are all about one kind of bike. I picked up a magazine a few weeks ago all about Oil Cooled GSXRs. It's cool to see how many good original bikes are still around and even cooler are some of the mods. It turns out that one of the best shops in Japan is about five miles from my house. If I have any trouble at all, my humpback is going over there in a heartbeat.

Do you have the number for when you renew? Could you pm it to me? Maybe i can call them and get a sub to t.w.o. that way
My CycleWorld subscription expired and I don't know if I will renew. I like Motorcyclist, a big fan of Mark Gardiner (one of their editors), and also really like Sportrider. But it seems all 3 of these are still partial whores to a certain extent...they all receive big bucks from advertisers. As a result it seem like any criticism they have of a bike or product is followed up with a compliment.
I just got my 2nd issue of Motorcycle Consumer News. Very imformative and technical, all black and white so it can be boring. They also seem a bit caught up on conspiracy theories. But their info seems unbiased.
