well i noticed you "didn't hijack" another thread and got a little help but i'm 6'1 195 and i have no problems on my '04 636...my arms got sorta tired at first when i got the bike...but this was also my first bike to own so....i'm over that now...i feel this bike is about the perfect height for a 6'1-er. If you're looking at the '05 i couldn't help ya on the fit...i haven't sat on one yet...but who cares...the '05's are so damn sweet looking!! I'm thinkin about tradin in on one myself...hope i helped.

if you're new, get the katana. if you have a couple of years experience, get the 636. and check insurance for the both of them too.

I'd keep riding the 750 for the rest of this coming season. How many miles do you have? In terms of acceleration, there will be a difference but it won't be huge. I had a 90' 750 and went to this fzr 1000, slightly faster than my friend's 04' gsxr 600 from 0-140 (not to mention a buttload more low-mid tourqe), and I was dissapointed.

You'll notice it is lighter and feels better to flick around but it probably won't make you any faster right now in terms of lap times if your worried about that. In fact, you'd probably be faster on the katana.

Unless it is a basket case... If that is the case I'd reccomend this move. If not, I'd be happy with a good running katana 750 for a year.

By the end of march i will probably have around... 1,000 + miles out on it since i've done 150+ and its been raining on and off. The reason i would like to get a new bike is first.. im going to have the money to do it at that time and second the katana seems to be crapping out on me so i'll probably take it into the shop one of these days and see whats really wrong and make my decision from there, rather not drop tons of money into a 1000 dollar starter bike.

Have you tried sitting on a 636 at a Kawi dealer?

if you only have 1000 miles under your belt, keep the katana for the upcoming season, and consider picking up a left over 636 towards the end of the 05 season if you find that you still like them after sitting on them and riding one if you can find one to take around the block.

If you just started riding, you really need to be careful around the 1000-2000 mile mark. That's right about the point where you feel like you got the riding thing down and start going faster. There is still much to learn and you have to really restrain yourself so you don't end up in situations that you aren't able to really deal with yet. Not saying you shouldn't look at a new bike, just that you should continue to take it easy for a while. That might involving hanging on to your current bike for a while longer.

^^^^<----Werd!

I've got over 10,000 miles under my belt since the end of July, I"m still learning things though. I vote for keeping the Kan-o-Tuna and learning to push it before stepping up to a current SS bike.

Wow thats like...

3 weekend rides!

You are still a newbie, keep the can-o-tuna for at least one year more. 1000 miles is NOTHING

1000 miles and ready for a SS bike

I think it depends on how you ride.. If you like ripping through the gears and speeding around town then no dont get the 636, because when you hit that powerband you might be overwhelmed a bit.. But if you ride your bike similar to a car, then I think you'd be fine..

Im 6'1" and 18 and i fit fine on a 600. Dont worry about the size at all. I like the feel of having a small bike because i feel very in control and like i can throw it around.

Now heres another question... what if the "can-o-tuna" is going to need repairs that are going to cost me more than i can sell the bike for? Wouldn't i be better off moving to another bike instead dropping money into a endless pit? Etheir way im probably pushing the new bike till the end of summer because i might be going to spain for 3 months
