Mobil 1, 2000 miles, should I change it? (there is a catch)
OK, so my 150cc bike has acumulated 2000 miles since its last oil change. I used Mobil 1 redcap, blah, blah, blah...
Should I change it after 2000 miles???
The catch is, the Haynes manual says, no more than 2000 miles between oil changes.
Second catch, the Haynes manual talks about SF/SG mineral oils.
I know that most people say that the advantage of synthetic are the extended oil change intervals.
Should I wait 2000 miles more???
Oil tests have concluded that Mobil 1 can last up to 10000 miles, on a car...

I use Amsoil syn oil and have had it in my zx9 for 2800 miles since spring. I intend to leave it in for another 2 to 3k. And get this, those miles will last till next summer.
I trust my Oil.

On the street there's no reason to change synthetic oil every 2 or 3K miles. Unless it makes you sleep better. Dino oil, sure, esp on older bikes/vehicles requires more frequent changes in the 2-3K mi range.

I wouldn't bother, unless it's go a crankcase like a dirtbike, and only holds .9 quarts. If so, it probably needs it due to contamination, and it's only 4.00 for one quart. If it holds more than that, I'd wait.

Is that 150cc a 2 or 4 stroke? I am assuming 4.
The best thing to do is, go ahead and change it, just look at the oil that comes out. If it looks brand new, then you know that next time you can go a bit longer.
If it is a 2stroke, change it every 2k

I also use redcap, last time I changed my oil after like 3000 miles and the oil still looked brand new. I now go about 5000 miles give or take a few hundred. I am not worried about it, synthetic is meant to go longer.

I would really love to see someone change a 2 stroke engine oil...
It is a 150cc OHV 2 valve 1 cylinder engine. It holds about 1.33 qts. However as it is a filterless engine it gets the oil dark very fast.

I'd change it then. With no filter, it needs to be changed more often. Besides, 1.33 quarts is only going to cost you 8.00.
