Default How hot does your clutch cover and cover where oil goes in get?

I went for a nice ride tonight. The air temp was 82 with a nice breeze. I didn't do any hard riding. When I got home, I felt heat by my leg, and reached down and put my hand on the cover over where the oil goes in, and it was pretty darn hot. I mean hot to almost the point of hurting. (Is this normal??)

I also felt the clutch cover, and while it was not as hot, it too felt fairly hot to me.

I checked my oil level and everything is fine. My engine temp gauge never read any higher during the night than 3 bars, and most of the night was at 2 bars.

So just asking if you think everything is ok.

Thanks

Both of those covers get hot on mine too, so I bet it's normal. In fact, stopping for any length of time with the engine running (like at a stoplight) makes my feet really, really warm! This happens even in relatively cool temps, like when it's in the 70's.

Well when I replaced my clutch cover it was hotter that a mother f*&$^r. had to put on work cloves to handle it. So I can assure you they get hot!! This is normal though. Aluminum is a great conductor of heat and there is engine oil flowing behind each of those covers.

Engine+Friction=Heat Simple fact of life. Drive your car or truck 82 miles and touch the engine block.
