Default Maxima Chain Wax & Fling?

I used Maxima Chain Wax for years on the o-ring chain on my old Kawasaki, and never had a problem with fliing. I recently tried it on my new FZ6, but it appears that the grease is working it's way out of the o-rings and flinging all over the front sprocket cover, and oozing it's way down to the bottom of the engine. Not to mention the fling on the back wheel.

At the 600 mile service, the dealer "cleaned and lubed" the chain and that's when I first had the fling problem. I just thought he used oil to lube the chain and that was the cause of the fling. However, now I'm wondering if he used something to clean the chain that harmed the o-rings.

Is my problem a sign of a bad chain? Anyone else using Maxima Chain Wax seeing the same thing?

Thanks!

I have had the same problem with Maxima in the past. I found that I wasnt cleaning the chain well enough so that the product wouldnt adhere. I clean the chain and sprockets with Kerosene (buy a half-gallon at Ace, then go down the kitchen isle and get a clear ketchup dispenser with a nozzle and put it in that) using many, many rag intil the last one shown nothing. I let it sit overnight for the residual to evaporate. The next day take for a 5 minute ride like the cans says, put it on the centerstand, lay down some newspapers and have my wife sping the wheel while I apply. Let it sit overnight and viola, not a fling at all!

I learned this from trial and error, I doubt the dealer screwed-up the o-rings, I would imagine they didnt clean it well enough.

Its just like painting, its all in the prep work. Now that you have a clean chain with only wax on it, future cleanings will be very easy, been doing it this way for years and years w/o a problem.

I use Maxima chain wax too. Sure there is a "little" fling, always is with anything, very hard to avoid unless you just use very little I suppose, but it is minimal. Just do a good chain cleaning and then apply. I apply at night and then let it sit overnight so it really sets up. The first ride when I get home there will be a little fling off on the rear wheel, I clean those up, and then thats it.

I use Maxima chanin wax and have 0 fling everytime I use it. I use this to clean the chain http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/produc...eafCatId=11907
.
I clean the chain about every 4 waxings. Roughly every 3000 miles. I clean it with a rag, toothbrush, and that sludge away (dont put it in a paper cup, it eats through it). It gets it sparkling clean every time. I spray on the wax about every 800 miles, or just when it looks thin. Spray it on when the chain is warm, then wait at least 1/2 hour for wax to "set up". I usually do it after a long ride, so it has all night to set up.
