Thumbs up

My bike has been in the shop for four days now. This is the second time in for this problem. I talked to them today and they said that my TPS was out of spec and they are replacing it. So it looks like I will finally be able to go ride without this bullsh*t problem plaguing me.

I still don't have my bike, they have had it for more than a week waiting for the sensor to show up.

I don't know if they have decided on what is wrong with mine but I do know I mentioned this to them and I got the same repsonce about the web. Damn why would the fix that fixes the bikes with the same exact model and symptoms happening over and over again do anything to help troubleshoot mine. Guess that sounds too logical but thats just me.

All I can say is keep on their ass!! If they say that your TPS is in spec or that nothing is wrong insist that they call the factory. That is what I did and then I went on a ride and actually counted the number of stalls that I had on the ride(16 stalls over 100 miles) and took this info to them and said nothing wrong my ass!! At that point they called the factory again and were instructed to get the bike into the shop and figure out what the hell is wrong with it. It is no wonder I drink so much beer when I have to deal with shit like that!

Default TPS ? Mappings ?

Yup same issues, but Yamaha is asking the dealer to get a benchmark on the bike so they can calculate a new Mapping. Apparently, there are some emission issues that had to be resolved at the cost of some of the bike's performance. The dealer says they are going to abide the law with any changes they make however they intend on giving me the information needed to optimize my engine on my own. This is still in the works so hopefully I can return with good news. cya l8r

Hey,

I live in Denmark and had problems with my TPS.
I took the bike to the dealer and said I thought it was the TPS because I had read about it in here.
The mechanic said he would ask Yamaha, and after a week he told me it would be replaced, and I should call a week later to ask if he had got the TPS home.
It took 2 weeks to get it home, I think there is a big demand for it :-))

He replaced it, and the bike has been working fine ever since.

Everything was covered by the warranty.

So take it to the place you bought it.

I just figured I'd chime in with a +1 on this thread. Had my first stalling problem today. The bike has about 8000 miles on it. I'll wait to see how bad it gets, then head to the dealer.

So what exactly would be happening? Is it just stalling and hesitations, or is there more to it than that?

I've had my bike for about 1500 miles and haven't had anything unusual happen...yet.

Well, mine just up and died in traffic today while stopped at a light. Hit the starter button, and had to keep the throttle open a bit just to get it to idle. It sounded weird, too, like it wasn't firing on all cylinders or something. Once I parked it, turned the key off, then fired it back up, the engine rpm climbed back to normal and stayed there the rest of today. Oh, and gas mileage has started going to crap (30mpg or so).

On a 4000Km trip to Scotland (I live in Denmark) my bike started to have all the typical TPS problems.
I've talked to the dealer after my return, telling him that it was properly the TPS that was malfunctioning.
The TPS was replaced at the 10000Km service, and I've haven’t had any problems since.
