Default Thinking about manufacturing Clip on adapter.

Like the title says I have the means (full CNC machining center at my disposal, 5-axis mill with a fully automated lathe in my garage) to manufacture a clip on adapter set.

Basically my idea is to replace the top-cap from the forks with one that extends the fork tube up about an inch. I need a way to overcome the possibility of the rider accidentally loosening the new top-cap however. Any thoughts and anyone interested?

My other thought was to make one that bolted to the stock handlebar clamp location and extended out and down to provide a place to mount clip-ons. This higher-forward design might give us the clearance we need to improve clip-on selection.

Personally, I like that idea better. #1, sounds safer. #2, provides a use for the unsightly handlebar clamp that's left over after switching to clip-ons. You come up with something like that, and I will be getting off the fence and making the switch!

Personally, I'd be more interested in mounting underneath the top triple with a rise of about 35mm.

I looked at that option extensively. You can use a convertibar if you really want to do that, HOWEVER you need to modify your fairings to do so and the convertibar system is ludicrously expensive.

If this works I'll make a few extras and sell them for around a hundred bucks. That plus any aftermarket clipon and you are still only looking at around 200 bucks. Or if you can ebay some CBR clipons I'm sure you could get that down to $150.

Here is the rendering that I promised. Will be building the prototype next weekend after I get back from a business trip.

So it caps the fork caps and then also caps the handle bar mount..........very interesting.....
