Some earlier ones have harness issues, a few i think have rectifier issues as well. There is a recall out for the harnesses.

Thanks for the heads up guys. I know there are still a few recalls on the vfr. Mine is very smooth on the transition of the vtec coming in, but I read somewhere that a lot of the problems are with smooth running etc are to do with the starter valves been out of balance. WTF they are I dont have a clue...

The vfr came from one of the largest honda dealerships in the uk and has come with a lifetime warranty, providing the bikes serviced by them. What the warranty is worth is anybodies guess, but I suppose it does give a bit of peace of mind.

I nipped to visit a mate sat eve and jumped on the motorway. In top its doing about 5200rpm at 80mph. The vtec does not come in till nearly 100mph in 6th.

Yes she is a heavy bugger. But to be fair you dont notice the weight once moving. What I have noticed that I took for granted on the fz6 was the steering lock and the lack of it on the vfr. Trying to turn the bike round is a nightmare compared to the fz6.

In my first hour post, id like to point out a couple of things. My fz6 was a 2004. It had the snatchy throttle responce that afflicted that model and the gearbox on the s2 is vastly improved against the 2004-2006 model.

I suppose thats why there is such a massive contrast between the 2 bikes.

Well just a little update. The vfr is just about ready for the run down to the pyreneese and into spain. Just waiting on the honda topbox frame now and colour coded topbox.

she is very red.........

Red, indeed...... but she's likely just as beautiful with a thousand miles' worth of bugs spattered about her. The rims look like they should be very good at hiding road grime. My glossy black ones are always looking rough.

She's pretty! I've always liked these.
