Default Rock strikes on my hands

I've noticed this year that if I am at freeway speeds, my fingers are getting a beating accross the first joint past the knuckle.... usually my index fingers, on both hands .

Has anyone else noticed an unusually high number of strikes to the hands, on the FZ? I got whacked with a rock flipped up by a logging truck Tuesday, had to be a bit smaller than a golf ball, or it would have broken my finger.

Wednesday, some sort of heavily laden bug whacked into the switch assembly on the throttle side.... left a sticky spot like sap, a good 2" accross.

I'd like to know if the '07 and later fairings are producing similar results..... if anyone else is taking the same sort of abuse as me, that is. It would be quite painful, without heavy padded gloves.

You need to stop drafting those dump trucks...

I have noticed this, but, it is infrequent.

I think it's a regional problem. Although I did get stabbed in the nose by a 3 inch splinter (off a logging truck) in Colorado once.

It stuck and proceeded to vibrate in the breeze...

I won't ride without gloves, because I have had road debris bounce off my hands

No, anything hitting my hands is infrequent. Or it's tiny stuff, and I don't feel it through the gloves.

I always wear gloves, and I still have felt the infrequent piece of gravel hit them. I may ride around the block without a helmet, but, I never ride without gloves!

I seem to recall reading that the palms of the hand are the one thing the docs cannot fix via skin grafting or any other method when burned or torn up. Gloves are good things ...

That's what makes the stirkes I've been taking stand out.... I wear insulated leather gauntlets, and when I get hit with something big enough to leave a bruise through those gloves, I remember it.
