07 Swingarm swap on a 06 complete!
1st of all I deserve a . RoT:- NEVER EVER use a torque wrench on anything below 30-40 ft/lb; plain wrench is just fine. I stripped the threads on the lower swingarm bolt . Before this I have stripped the rear caliper. Went to Lowes and got a similar heavy duty grade 8 bolt, locknut and washers. Otherwise everything else went great. Also soaked the chain clean overnight in kersene. BTW, the difference between the weights of two swingarms is 1 lbs. Old boxy weights around 14 lbs and the newer one weighs 13 lbs. Chain adjustment pieces are very nice; simplifies the job of adjusting the slack and wheel alignment. 1101081643-00.jpg
Just for showing off, here are the BT-016 strapped on my ass when I took them for putting on . 1027081447-00.jpg

Well, I've a universal wrench that can handle torque till 150. So I don't know how does it matter to use a different one. Please enlighten me? Thats why I've decided to use the torque wrench only for the axles and nothing else. Good lesson learnt the hard way!
Pics of the new bolt from Lowes:

Learnt? The made-up words I read in these forums are sad.
Torque wrenches need to be calibrated once in awhile. Also, I wouldn't use a 150 ft*lbs wrench for 30 ft*lbs. Get a 75 ft*lbs wrench for that. I've got one of those and a 1/4" drive in*lbs wrench that cover most of what I need to torque.

It is a direct bolt-off/on mod as Defy had mentioned. Entire process should take max 2 hours or so. No mechanical problems. Took the bike for a 170 mile ride. The rear feels great. I can feel a small improvement in stability but that maybe just the placebo effect in my head.
Only PITAs are removing the CAT pipe if you don't know the wiggling out and WD-40 technique (done it twice so it has become easy but is more painful with the Laser Quads) and wheel alignment and chain adjustment. But it is easier on the 07 swingarm.
BTW, the old black swingarm is up for sale. Comes with the Yamaha stickers and labels removed. Make me an offer

Torque wrenches are typically only accurate for the middle 50% of the value of its range. So a 0-100 ft-lb wrench should only be used for 25-75 ft-lbs.

The right tool for the right job FTW
Point noted. I need to get a 75 lb wrench now ..
