Here is a picture of Thatguyx for good measure:

Figured you'd ask....

Here is a picture

He's not leaning very much but the stand looks close. You can also clearly see that the sidestand on the outside is sticking out pretty far. I don't know that I've ever touched mine down but then again I only kept it on the bike for my first track day.

wrightme43 lowsided and cites his centerstand (he of course puts the blame on himself). He came in hot, looked and leaned, and the centerstand levered his rear off the ground (right-hander).

Do you have any pictures like this with the center-stand on?

That's ^^^ only about 40/45 degrees but I'm thinking the pegs/stand would be making some sparks, no?

just get an R6.

I _love_ mine, I was having second thoughts about the R6 after I put the deposit on it when I was still riding the FZ6. Now I feel like it was the best decision I could have made. I suits me great, more track, less street but I can still commute on it (which i will be stopping i think).

Default Ouch...

Sorry 'bout the broken bones there. In the USA, the go-to orthopedic surgeon is Dr. Arthur Ting (Fremont, CA) just north east of San Jose, CA.
In any case, you'll want to have a good surgeon put those bones back together.

John (Hopper) Hopkins, several other pro riders and athletes have used Dr. Ting, as per RoadRacingWorld magazine.

Best, - J.

The pictures I have are over a year old, but I'll post them up anyway. I know for a fact that the right peg will touch before the centerstand, but I'm not as sure about the left.

The truth is that all of the tracks that I've had my FZ6 on were clockwise tracks, so I'm a bit better in right-handers.

And since I first touched down the sidestand a few years ago I've worked a lot on my body positioning and use much less lean angle than I used to. So I don't believe I've ever actually scraped the left foot peg.

The picture of the left-hander below is kind of scary, though. I never looked at it before for ground clearance. I think I'll order a roller stand before my next track day (the sport chocks are just too expensive at $315).

Here's a picture I have where I'm pretty low.

I have stock pegs, and I've drug my left peg and sidestand considerably, I can't really tell which is first, they have to be really close.

Heal up fast man!!!

03, that's ^^^ some serious lean right there. Was your footpeg on the ground at that point?

Is that ACC-North? Gotta love the 2004 with R6 forks/brakes and an Ohlins rear...NICE Put some rear-sets on that bike and you'll have one less thing to break your concentration. The bike definitely rails with that suspension combo.

thatguyx, did your rear-sets get damaged?

I took my center stand off when I bought the bike. Just looked to cluttered with it. If and when I take a long road trip I will put it back on. I scraped my right foot peg on a track day about 5 months ago. It's because I still had the feelers on them. Needless to say they were ditched before the next session. I almost wiped out on that turn due to that. It would be my advice to take those off before doing a track day, maybe even the side stand. I left mine on though.

One more thing you can do about center stand clearance is remove the rubber bump-stop on the throttle-side of the bike. After removal, zip-tie the stand in place to prevent it from bouncing around, metal on metal. Try it just to see how much more clearance you get as it is what I'd call significant and VERY hard to touch down when done.

Yeah, the feeler was on the ground. I've learned how to get my fat ass off of the seat now so my angles aren't so aggressive.

I love the expression on your face! You totally look like you're having fun.

here's one of me that is a little worrisome when I look at it in this light. I think I'd be closer to clipping the peg than the stand ... you can see how far my tire is from the candy stripe:

I had surgery on Thursday (08.07.08). They knocked me out and put 2 rods and pins in my hand. They also gave me vicodin (whooo House reference). Yesterday I kept busy, visited work and some friends (driving with one hand the other arm in a sling on vicodin. (hehe) I was ok until today. Hand has been throbbing in pain. I think I had 4 vicodins and slept a lot. There;s some bleeding from one of the pins. I can't see iut because it;s wrapped in gauze under some bandages on a splint. Probably my fault from doing too much. I want to be handicappable, not handicapped. I'm a little upset trying to find games I can play with just a mouse.

I have a follow up/x-ray on Tuesday, so hopefully I'll have some cool pics of my new hardware... most likely a cast on too. Insurance is also coming Tuesday to check out the bike and see if it's totaled. I gotta get too it first (at a friend's house) and take a look at it, take pics and some parts.

Currently eying a 2005 Kawi ZX6-R, my friend has. It's been sitting for a while since he got it repaired after his crash. But a Honda still looks more promising, there's always the new or left over R6. After I find out how long I'm gonna be in a cast I'll make more plans. But as of now I'm looking to buy this winter.
