oh man, thats gota hurt like hell. I broke my wrist pretty bad about 4 years ago on a skateboard, it was the most pain I've ever been in....a pain that is visiting me right now actually. I hate arthritis, every time it acts up I curse myself for being on that skateboard.

sorry to hear man, hope you get another bike fast, and hope you can ride it soon

That really sucks, man.

I actually took the sidestand off my bike after I touched it down at a track day. The right-side peg touches down, but on the left side of the bike the sidestand touches down before the peg.

I get a hard time at tech inspection for running on the track with the centerstand, but I just explain that the sidestand touches first, so it was taken off the bike. Both pegs will touch before the centerstand, so that's how I run. The guys at tech just shrug their shoulders and pass my bike.

I hope your hand heals up quickly. I guess you won't be riding for a while. Have you thought about what to get for a replacement bike?

So once the pins are in you should be as good as new and back on the bike?

kick stands suck, also I am not sure if the underseat exhaust is a blessing or a curse, you don't drag it anymore, but now the swingarm is exposed.

hey all. Some commented on the pegs touching down first, I have the Rizomas rearsets and I'm taking Defy's word that with those the sidestand will touch first. I think I'm proof of that now. I should've taken it off like he suggested. Never imagined I'd get that low. So that's kinda cool. I was moving pretty quick and made some good outside passes, but a coach warned me my lines were being sacrificed. I don't know the exact lines or ettiquette to passing. So the session I went down, I took the coach's advice and was working on my lines.

The funny thing is the turn i crashed on I was alone. After thinking about it, I turned in late on a sharp turn. I still aimed for the apex cone. I was getting into my rythem, but still trying to stay on line. Too late turn in, and sharp turn... bad line. I'm 100% sure I would've finished the turn if i ran it wider or 90% sure if I removed the kickstand. I left a nice streak/gash on the freshly paved surface

I'm going to check with insurance ASAP. The coach who offered me advice told me to tell the insurance company that I was with TPM taking an advanced riding training course because they are certified by the state of NJ. So hopefully that all works out.

Thanks for the good lucks and well wishes, and no to the vultures looking for parts. I'll see what I can pull off the bike and put it back to stock. To anyone who bought parts from me prior, I will try to ship out your stuff ASAP. Surgery is scheduled for Thursday now. I'm good, just resting with ther help of some oxycodone. I wish it was vicodin, so I can feel like House. After they put the pins in I'll be in a cast for a couple weeks. Plates would be permanent, but allow me to use my hand sooner. But i'd still be in a cast so I'd rather go with pins and rods.

Next bike, depening on insurance will either be a left over 07-08 R6, CBR600RR, or an 05 ZX6-R. Need to test ride a few, after I heal up. I doubt I'll get another FZ6 anytime soon. I'm looking for something more track oriented. But as some of you know first hand, the FZ6 with a few tweaks, even just the right tires, is no slouch. I like the idea of the other bikes because there are more aftermarket parts available. Not to mention stock these bikes come with things I wanted for the FZ6: adjustable suspension, clip-ons, higher rearsets, more compliant ergos for track.

That sucks. If you'd been on a supersport I'm sure that you'd have been OK.

Too bad that the hand will take a while to heal, but I agree with you that I'd rather take longer to heal than have a permanent plate in my hand.

Either way, it's great that you're in such good spirits.

Lean angle is the enemy...

You're looking at a black Kawi, arn't you? haha....I think the black ZX is the best looking 600SS right now but I'd go with a used 2007 CBR600RR if I were you.....all good choices that you can't really go wrong with for your type of riding.

How long is that track? When faced with traffic that I have no business blasting past in a turn and can't drive past, I sometimes pit in to hot pit for 20 seconds or so, letting traffic move on while I catch my breath, and then continuing on with an open track ahead of me...best way to stay focused on your own riding without involving others and/or riding over your head.

you're wrong.....but it all depends. NESBA and STT, two big track day orgs in the US, are considered instructional non-competitive skill enhancement orgs. It makes sense too; racing is SO much more dangerous than simple track days.

Every agent and experienced US track rider will tell you once you mention "race" or "timed event" you'll get no coverage.

Most track orgs here market themselves as "advanced riding schools" and this is generally respected by the insurance companies.

It's best to check with your company in advance....search the track day forums for a ton of information/stories on this.

Geez man, that break looks painful. Are you left or right handed?

I am sorry to hear about the crash. I was wondering if you might be able to satisfy my curiosity on a couple of things?

What kind of frame sliders were those?

It looks like you removed the center stand?

On my bike, it doesn't look like I've dragged the center stand yet. I think for the next track day I will probably remove it ... if I could get spools on there, I'd remove the sidestand as well but I think the 07-08 models don't have the hole to screw spools into the swingarm.

Also, what kind of tank grip do you have there? Did you have to cut/shape it yourself?

I hope your hand is OK and that you make a speedy recovery. I'll probably be thinking of you at my next track day.
