Nicely done! I just reverted from my Puig touring screen to the stock screen and gotta say that I get way less turbulence. Now you got me thinking maybe I should chop the Puig shorter and see what happens .

Thanks for the write up!

You are my hero! I've been thinking of doing this for a couple weeks (see the wind noise thread) but just didn't have the guts to cut the screen (no Puig back-up here). I had ridden the bike for several days with the screen off and liked th results, as you said, no more turbulence under the helmet.

I really like the look with it trimmed. I do have a question about the edging though. If my dealer doesn't have some laying around where do I order it from and what is it called? I this the "laminar lip" stuff?

I have a couple over scheduled weekends so this will probably have to wait a bit but I'm going for it.

Thanks!

hey guys, if anyone is looking to do this, I have a stock screen laying around I could probably be talked into selling, if you want to have a back up before you tear into yours. pm me an offer if your interested. also, I think if you do this, you could go to a hardware store, and get some round, clear tubing, and cut one side to make a lip. looks like that is about all the puig is. I just put a puig on my bike and like it. I think it cut down 50% of the wind or more, and it looks so much better. I was wondering how a persons height affects how well they like the puig screen. I am 5'10" and like it, it may be the taller people who are not seeing as much of an improvement???

I'm just a shade under 5'10" and I think the longer wind screes would deflect the wind right at my head since the stock screen puts it right n the middle of my chest. But I'm sure you're right, height & riding posture would make a difference.

Don`t use this type of tubing it does not work and looks awful, it is too big and does not have the grip.

Tell your local bike shop what you want and they will get it. It comes in clear, smoke and chrome and is really cheap and finishes the job off well.

I am 5`9" tall and think there is very little difference between the stock and the Puig apart from the look. Neither protects you from the rain, you still get wet.

The screen I cut down works perfectly, as much by luck than judgement.

I am riding down to France from Denmark on Friday...1300km, and I will leave the short screen on for a week of unbuffetted riding and report back when I return.

You DO NOT need to buy extra screens to practice on because this to do this is easier than you can imagine.

Keep the excess bits of screen. If you want to paint your screen at some stage you can use the spare to practice on.
