FZ6If you’re looking for one bike to perform a multitude of missions, look no further.
Take it from Cycle World* Magazine - “For a more advanced rider looking for a bike to do it all, there is no other choice.”
Man gone for about a week and come back to this.... I am glad you are ok man. I really do like your attitude and another good reminder to stay vigilant. I hope all is working out well as far as getting the bike fixed or relaced is concerened.

I'm glad your OK, and it sucks that the bike's out of commission again.
You made a good call by just laying there and not saying anything / moving around. I'm sure the woman gave out enough hysterical information to bystanders to establish her fault.
You need to start your own "tree of shame" or something of the like.
Love ya man, glad you're alright.
- P.S. - DIBS ON PARTS! (inside joke, I've been pestering him for parts for about three months now).
Thanks guys, sorry for not responding yet... family arrived from Europe today for the wedding lol... plus dealing with all this shit... not much time to respond to all of you... I`ll get to it though...
Oh the bike is totaled btw... and the appraisal guy mentioned I should be getting my max $2000 of "aftermarket parts" insurance on top of the value of the bike... even though the frame is cracked (where the fairing mounting holes are), and the front end is "badly mangled up" (Koso gauges "are nowhere to be found"), he asked me: "that bike was clean before the crash, wasn`t it?"... I told him that it made the top ten out of hundreds of yamaha custom models, and it was supposed to be showcased in the Yamaha tent at the Laguna Seca Moto GP next wkd... to which he responded "ahh I knew it, I`ve been doing this for 25 years and saw over 10k wrecked bikes (500 of involving fatalities), and I could tell this was a nice looking bike..."
Sorry for for all the folks who pm_ed me for dibs on parts... but it looks like I`ll just take the cash
Lol, why don't you just roll up your mangled FZ6 to the tent and showcase it
I might be at the GP depending on if my parents figure out whether they want to do our cali vacation yet. We're thinking about renting some bikes and ride around the countryside.
sucks the bikes a loss but i vote either 848 or 675 street as a replacement...

Let me know if you go, Ducks and I are going to be there!
I can now fully symphatize with what your wife has to put up with on account of you. Kidding aside, she must really feel sick everytime you hop on the motorcycle.
I'm glad you're ok and nobody got hurt. Thank goodness for that.
If you decide to continue riding, may I suggest taking all the riding courses available. From beginner, to get back in touch with the basics, through intermediate to practice proper riding techniques, and advanced to expand on your skills.
The life you save may be your own. I do believe that you might make it to be a really competent rider as long as you treat each ride like it were your first.
I'm still working on trying not to assume what others on the roads might do. What would you have done differently to avoid your collision?
Oh, I still think you've got a horse shoe up your ass, and a big one indeed!
I am definitely very lucky.
I already answered the question about what I think I could have done to avoid the accident, i.e. continue to brake when she stopped in the far right lane... my thought was "ok she saw me, let's move on by so she can get out of the middle of the street"... bad thought I guess... I should have stopped or proceed with extreme caution... easy to say after the fact, but it's another lesson I learned the hard way.
I thought the title was a joke.... glad you are okay! There was a death up here that they think was due to road rage, (non bike related) yet people still drive more and more like dumb dumbs.
It wasn't this bad in France was it? Methinks I want to move to Finland... go party with my buddy Kimi Raikkonen.
Traffic in France is pretty crazy, but I had never seen anyone in my life "double-stop" in the middle of a city street no... French drivers (in big cities like Paris) are a) more aware of motorcycles, and b) much more assertive... which helps tremendously.
OI, david, glad to hear you're alright... i just saw this thread now... scary stuff buddy.. I cant believe this happened... actually i can, but it still sucks balls!
I just finished reading TWO reviews in a row about the 848 saying its a great track bike (but not the best suspension) and a terribly uncomfortable streetbike... and this is from reviewers who consider a GSX-R to be comfy... go with the triumph!
Thanks bro... I think you`re right... there are multiple bike possibilities I am currently looking at, i.e. Speed Triple, Buell XB12Scg, CBR1000, Duc 848..., but the top 2 are the Triumph & Buell right now... what do you think?
Wow, I'm glad that you came out of that okay. Those situations suck and there's usually not much you can do when faced with a crazy, unpredictable driver.
I had a similar thing happen to me when I lived in Tempe, AZ back in 1998. I had just pulled out of my apartment complex and was headed down a six lane road (three lanes both directions and a center turning lane) on my Katana 750. I was also 29. Hmmmm.
I saw a car on the left side of the road leaving a business. It was an older lady driving and she started straight across the other lanes. I started slowing down, but figured that I didn't have much to worry about, since there was a center turning lane and three lanes in my direction too. Long story short, she decided to go straight across the entire road to a business on my side and never saw me.... I was almost stopped when we made contact, and my can-o-tuna just glanced off of the side of her car. Somehow, I was off of the bike and I still don't know how that happened. I had no injuries and the kat just had busted up mirrors and some cracked plastic.
Slowing down does seem to minimize the damage potential and I got lucky in my case. I could have just as easily accelerated again like you did.
Now that I have children, I think about the consequences of riding more, but I can't give it up as it's such a part of me.
wow Thanks for sharing Jim, that streetview looks EXACTLY like my streetview lol... same road, same age, same numbnut type driver...
Can`t give it up either, but I promised the wife I won`t commute on the bike anymore (or at least not everyday).
thats crazy man, glad you came out fine! Your wife must be seriously pissed..and I'm sure the little one is mad too..anyway whatever bike you get next time, be safe out there man, old ladies scare me most and its a shame that one of them got you..
...for your next bike, I thought you might need some help, here..
I'm totally with you guys....
I got PM's warning me to be nice...LOL...how's that for going that one step further. Its beyond a group hug in here.....
lmao you`re shitting me? I was wondering why you had mentioned that in your previous post... who asked you that? don`t be nice... bring it to me! I want everybody's honest feedback... I can take it trust me
Now, for the record, I know I could have "broken a link in the chain of event" by keeping on the brakes after she stopped the first time... that's fine and I was the first to say so... it's always VERY easy to look back at an accident and determine what could have been done differently... in this case I should have kept slowing down... ok... fine... in a similar situation, next time, I`ll make sure to get on the brakes until I pass the cage... but what if someone rearends me because I was going 10mph in a 45mph and the person behind me "did not see me?" then what?
Life is just unpredictable and we all make decisions (some good, some bad) on a daily basis... shit happens!
Anyway, I still don`t want anybody to censure themselves... if you feel comfortable enough to lecture me, I just ask that you know what you`re talking about and don`t come off like you will never be in an accident yourself because you know how to control everything...
