FZ6If you’re looking for one bike to perform a multitude of missions, look no further.
Take it from Cycle World* Magazine - “For a more advanced rider looking for a bike to do it all, there is no other choice.”
Basically it confirms my version... the Mercedes driver got a ticket at the scene (19yo asian woman), for being in "violation of CVC 21804 (a), failure to yield while entering a roadway from private property".... she is supposed to appear in court on 8-8-08.
The witness (woman) that stopped at the scene and came to talk to me while I was laying on the ground stayed on the scene as well, and confirmed my version to the cops, so that helps a lot... "She was travelling eastbound [on the same street, opposite direction], and saw the Yamaha vehicle (me) approaching at about 40-45mph [...]. She stated that the Mercedes was driven out of the driveway on the north side of the street, with the driver attempting to make a left hand turn. She stated she believed the vehicle was possibly coming across even into her lane, at which time she began to brake to avoid a collision.
She stated she watched as the Mercedes was driven directly in front of the path of the Yamaha and watched as the Yamaha collided with the Mercedes, sending the rider (me) over the hood and roof of the Mercedes".
The Mercedes driver also stated to the cop that "she was pulling out of the private driveway attempting to make a left-hand turn onto the street. She stated she looked to her left to clear traffic and stated she saw no vehicles coming her direction and she began to make her left-hand turn across westbound lanes of traffic".
There were "39 feet of preimpact skids"...
I thought I landed 20 feet on the other side of the Mercedes, but the report states 30 feet.... I still can`t believe that after such a flight, I did not have a scratch on my body... GEAR FTMFW!
So that should be an easy one for the insurance companies
Now I have to decide whether to go claim my money (for the bike only, the rest will be handled by my lawyer) from the Mercedes driver's insurance company or mine... if I go through mine, I`ll get the money faster, but I`ll have to pay the $500 deductible until the other insurance reimburses me... I will also have to get the money for my helmet from the other insurance, as my insurance does not cover anything that is not mounted on the bike (bs if you ask me...). The thing is, you don`t know what both insurance companies will offer... so I might just contact both and have them tell give me the total amount before chosing... any of you guys have experience with that kinda stuff?
Anyway, I am pretty happy of the outcome so far...
That`s what I was thinking as well... the $500 is not a problem, but you`d be surprised by how insurance companies operate... my lawyer told me that the fact that it is your insurance company does not mean that they`ll give you the best deal... they will do whatever it takes to save every penny as well, as they often have a "better relationship with the other insurance companies than with their own customers...".
On a side note, I got a call a few days after the accident from someone supposedly calling from the Hospital where I ended up after the accident... the "courtesy call, to check if I had a pleasant stay at the hospital" quickly turned into the guy asking me about the accident... he stated he was a rider as well and wondered what happened... "to learn from it himself" (yeah right)... I told him it was a pretty typical left hand turn in front of me, and he kept going, asking if I had not seen the car early enough... and if I was speeding... of course at that point I asked to have his full name and phone # and he hung up on me........... scary!!
I thought it was the other party's insurance company, or maybe a private investigator hired by the cage driver, but my lawyer told me it was very unlikely, because no-one was supposed to know at which hospital I was transported, and what my cell phone # was... all this info is on the police report, but the police report was issued this morning only!!! My lawyer thought it was certainly my own insurance, trying to close the case quickly ("they do that, because it saves them money in the long run")...
I was shocked and felt "watched" for a few days... 2 days later I get the real courtesy call from the hospital...

Crazy shit!
I would put money on it being an ambulance chaser. Some skeezy personal injury lawyers keep police scanners and will actually try to get your business right there in the ER.
My buddy was in the ER after an accident and got a ten minute high pressure sell from an ambulance chaser while he was lying there waiting for triage.
wow interesting... something I don`t think I mentioned in this thread either is that the day after the accident, my bank calls me about my credit card... someone was trying to buy $2500 worth of stuff from bestbuy.com and circuitcity.com... I blocked it all of course... was probably someone from the hospital as well, but I can`t be sure since my wallet went from the cop (who took everything out of it to find the insurance info, and put it in a plastic bad), to the paramedics, to the hospital nurse, to the hospital personal who locked it away... so who knows who it was that copied the card info...
Pretty crazy couple of weeks I tell you
- accident
- cc fraud avoided
- fake call trying to get me to talk
- family arriving from europe
- my wedding ceremony
- motogp
some people have feelings that get hurt easily. I simply say it may be a case of sandivaginitis.....go to the doctor. It sounds like sound paper when you walk.
I went through my insurance company with the incident for my FZ6. I paid a $250 deductible, which is supposed to be refunded to me. Last time I checked with them, the case was getting drug through court, with the shop's insurance company claiming they were not at fault, LOL.

Go through your insurance company. I have an ambulance chasing case pending from 05 still unsettled against my insurance. My insurance is so sure its fraudulent that they have not let go a cent and its been over 3 years. So go through yours for the bike $$$ and go after her insurance with your lawyer for the rest.
That way you'll get a new bike right away, and the restitution and medical bills will get taken care of later.
On the CC fraud front, someone bought $4000 worth of shit on my card at a Walmart in Florida. The CC company blocked it, but not before the thief made it out of the store.
Hey, I thought you were already married as you mentioned your "wife" all the time!
Congrats on the Wedding though! Post some pictures.
Thanks! I`ve been married since 2-5-07, but we never did the ceremony (long story, early baby, family coming from europe and all)... we finally managed to make it happen the wkd before last!! It was awesome
We're still waiting for the official pictures, but here are a few taken by my family:
that chapel is sweet! is that tree branch just a random tree branch or part of the building?

We Loved the Wayfarers Chapel. (for those of you who are interested - it was designed by Lloyd Wright) Gorgeous location. Hope you got pictures with the ocean in the background, was their rose garden in full bloom?
Where was your reception?
Really sweet pictures. Your munchkin is SO cute.
