FZ6If you’re looking for one bike to perform a multitude of missions, look no further.
Take it from Cycle World* Magazine - “For a more advanced rider looking for a bike to do it all, there is no other choice.”
Both the Speed Triple and Street Triple (c'mon Triumph, enough with the confusing names) are really good bikes. I've ridden the Speed Triple 1050 3 times and it's incredibly fun. If I was buying a new bike tomorrow and both the 1050 and 675 were in stock, ready for delivery, I honestly don't know which one I'd get. I'd probably have to flip a coin.
I see good deals on 1~2 year old used Speed Triples with low mileage. I'd look into one of those first if I was ready for another bike and wanted the bigger motor. The motors are pretty bombproof, I wouldn't sweat getting a used one if it had been maintained. A nice thing with the Triumphs is the TOR (race tune) that is uploaded if you go with performance cans. I guess the argument could be made that it's not specifically tuned for each bike but my old RS with carbon can and TOR hauls serious a$$. It seems tuned pretty well.
I may even get an older 955i model if I see a good deal...

To recap those revisions: women are still worth 10 points more than men in all age brackets, but teenagers now rack up 40 points, and toddlers under 12 now rate a big 70 points. The big score: anyone, any sex, over 75 years old has been upped to 100 points.
I know it's a Speed triple, since I got the pic from a Speed Triple forum hehe... I was using the pic for the pipes... which I am sure can be fitted on the Street

There are 2 main reasons why I am going with the 675 as opposed to 1050... the first one is insurance cost, and the second is because of all the reviews I`ve read; ppl seem to have just as much fun on the 675...
Plus you can get a rear shock from a daytona for $100 on forums, and I`ll see about the front forks... I am sure they`ll be good enough for me though.
Odd, I just read how horrible the D675's rear suspension was this morning (SportRider) but of course it was being compared to the other 600s (by spoiled pros) and is probably still a lot better than the Streets but I wouldn't know.
Come on David. Can't you get one more bike worth of usage off of your good ole' Laser Quad System? You'd have the only three cylinder bike with four outlets.
[yes, I know you no longer have the laser quads or any other part of the old bike]
street triple in white... i'll wait a few more years for more technology but go for it now wavex ... I almost did!! I just couldn't justify such a beautiful ride as my first streetfighter bike that i'll probably destroy anyway
If you do get one Wavex I'd be very curious to hear your review. When I bought my FZ6 new in 05, alot of the reviews were pretty good, but there were also bad points, that all testers agreed upon. I'm interested in how a bike rides and feels that every single test I've read no one has anything bad to say at all. I love the Fz6 even with the things the testers didn't like, so how good is the triple?
Ohh despite the look of the dual headlights most of the tests I've read over at the Triumph forum said that setup is the best motorbike headlight setup out there.
Granted, I've only done about 20 miles on the Street 675 but the only negative I can think of is the binary on/off throttle. It's not horrible but I wasn't used to it anymore. The Daytona I rode had less of an on/off transition IIRC and that may be due to different FI tuning and gearing. The big low-end parr and light weight of the Street 675 probably made it more noticeable to me.
Those little bikes in the right hands will embarrass most crotchrocket pilots.

Yo Wavex- If you've not seen it yet, the current (August) issue of Motorcycle Consumer News evaluated the Street 675 vs the Aplilia Shiver 750. The Aprilia won mostly due to better suspension. The Aprilia is $700 more though. It's a pretty good write-up IMO. As expected, the 675 triple whupped the 750 twin in engine performance.

I read part of the review. Got throught the engine on the Triple & had to stop. Definitely have to finish that one. I was concidering the Street Triple when I bought my FZ.
Wavex - Are you getting your wreck back or is it gone for good?

Thanks! I shall pick one up at Lunch time and check it out!
I`ve read a couple of European review on the Shiver and they destroyed it at the time (6months ago)... eletrical problems involving multiple recalls and a whole series of things that I don`t remember now... they were saying that Aprilia released that bike a year too early, before really finishing it properly.
It may be all resolved by now though I don`t know. Beautiful machine for sure though.
I just got off the phone with the Brea Triumph/Ducati/Victory dealership and they are out of the Street Triple! He mentioned he should be getting on within the next 2 weeks... "and it might be an '09" He will let me know the color ASAP...
He wants a $500 deposit to keep it for me though... should I do it?
