Default NAKED as a mole rat!

Well, for better or for worse, I'm naked! Everything is mounted and ready to go, but I need to clean up the wiring (I have a couple of ideas). Took me 2 full days, and 75% of that was spent wasting time with ideas that didn't work for mounting the big honking speedo. Other than cleaning up the wiring, I want to trim the mounting brackets and bring the light closer to the forks. I'd almost like to get some cheap brackets to try it out, just in case I screw something up. Overall, I'm happy with it, but I need to clean up the mess behind the light that can be seen from the side before I'm truly happy. Oh, and she DESPERATELY needs a bath!

Anyway, what to you all think? Hey Wavex, I can now officially be added to the Naked Clan!

Oh, and whoever can name the origins of the headlight first WINS!*

Updated pics added later in the thread.

That looks nice! Good job

My only comment would be: DROP THE FREAKING HEADLIGHT A FEW INCHES!!!!

I don`t understand why a lot of ppl prefer their headlight so high on the forks... it looks so out of place to me...

Anyway, other than that, I like the headlight! can you get us a side shot as well (after you clean it up)

I`ll add you to the Naked Clan thread in a bit...

take some close ups of your speedo mounting as well if you can... so others can check it out!

About the headlight, my guess would be a beemer headlight (GS1200) with a custom flyscreen? probably wrong

So do you still have all the gauge functionality of stock like Neutral light, Oil light, CEL, signal, etc? What about odometer reading....how can you resell a bike if the odometer has been "tampered with" (removed and replaced with a new one)?

why would we have problems with the stock tach/speedo? Except for wavex, i'm pretty sure everyone else is using the stock tach/speedo. There's no tampering done to it. It's simply moved somewhere else.

The wiring you maybe confusing is just headlight wiring. And/or removing some of the slack in the headlight harness to clean up the area behind the lights of choice.

all in all, the tach/speedo works the exact same way it does factory. nothing is different.

You are on to something, and yet, you missed the target. The flyscreen is OEM with the headlight. There's a more limited version of this bike that had a more substantial flyscreen but, unfortunately, there are ZERO parts available for it worldwide. I may wait and see if they become available next year. Right now, all of them are going on production units, and it's not a common enough bike to even think of buying a used one.

Yes, I think you're right. Next time I get a chance to play with it, I'll probably lower the whole deal. The only problem is that, with my current method of mounting the speedo, that should make it virtually impossible to see. Oh well, I've still got about 3 feet of aluminum stock left... I can make another bracket! For now, I'm just hoping I've got the thing aimed somewhat acceptable as I'll most likely be taking the bike into work tonight. It's my freaking MONDAY!

I'll post up more pics as I get things cleaned up and more squared away.

Oh, my bad, didn't realize you retained the stock gauge.

I think the odometer readings and such are stored in the bikes ECU. I think the tach and stuff is just a display without any actual memory (I could be wrong, I'll plug my brothers in mine to see if its just a display)
