FZ6If you’re looking for one bike to perform a multitude of missions, look no further.
Take it from Cycle World* Magazine - “For a more advanced rider looking for a bike to do it all, there is no other choice.”
I have been torn about changing the exhaust on my 07 fz6.
I do want something that sounds better (more race-ish) but I am worried about how a louder exhaust (scorpion, two bros, etc...) will sound on the highway.
My question: For those of you with aftermarket exhausts...how do you find the noise level for long touring days? Do you ride with earplugs? If so, is the droning of the louder exhaust tolerable...or does it fatigue you even with plugs?
What I really want is to mount the Jardine can for the 07 Honda RR on my FZ6, but that is a custom job and a PITA...so I may settle for the scorpions because they are cheap, and people say they are not as insanely loud as the two bros.
I have the Two Bros. Over 45-50mph the wind is louder than the exhaust. I don't wear ear plugs either. However, on normal streets once I hit 6000rpm is roars like a beast.
I went with the TB because of the deeper sound, no rasp, no whine or buzz. Just a nice rumbly growl.

That is exactly what I was hoping to hear...that at highway speeds the wind is still louder than even the Two bros exhaust...which means that I should be all good if I wear earplugs (which I always do on 2+ hour rides).
Anyone else with a different exhaust care to chime in?
((I LOVE the two bros look and sound, but the price is about $200 more than the scorpions....oh...decisions, decisions....))
If I hadn't found a used one, I would have bought one new. Its worth it. And by worth it, I mean its a total waste of money for the purpose of looking and sounding cool and adding very little to the performance of the bike itself, but it just looks and sounds so damn good!

Wind noise-induced hearing damage is cumulative. This is different from going to a loud concert where you hear ringing afterwards but eventually your hearing comes back.
Cumulative damage sneaks up on you and does NOT come back, period.
Try those earplugs even around town - unless your hearing is already significantly damaged you can totally hear other traffic, your bike, etc.
I wear them anytime I am going to be traveling over ~40 mph.

As you were.
Does anyone know if the Scorpions have some sort of "Db killer" insert? I think it's like a baffle that is removable, that sort of plugs into the end of the tailpipe.

I have the Scorpions, which are pretty LOUD. Wearing a Scorpion EXO 700 helmet I don't have any complaints on long rides. Not sure my neighbors are happy when I fire up at 6:45 AM, but no comments from the State Patrolman about noise when I got pulled over twice last summer for speeding.

This is not true with the two bros factory exhaust. They have no db killers and you always hear it. It does grumble and over about 70 the wind noise will cover up the exhaust.
If you get the two bros, get something with baffles since the factory ones are just straight pipes. The one plus of the factory model is that they are titanium instead of stainless pipes with a titanium sleeve on the outside. They are very light and really cool to the touch even after a long ride.
I wear macks silcone ear plugs. They are the best since you still hear everything, just not as loud. I always used them when I was playing in a band at bars since it can get a little loud.

Parabellum....I just got some CF M4's for my bike, im hoping to get them installed this weekend (Sunday), once I get them on feel free to come by and check them out first hand. They are not as loud as the Two Brothers but still very nice!!!

I'm confused, which part wasn't true?

I was just saying the factory racing pipes don't get drowned out by the wind unless you are going really fast. I think they are over 100 db and too much for certain tracks as well. They get a lot of negative attention. I was just pulled over on sunday and harassed about my inspection.
I think their evo line (especially with the baffles) are designed a little quieter with baffling in the cans and insert baffles to meet street requirements.
Scorps. They are loud, but since they're pointed back behind you, as others have said, the wind noise eventually drowns it out. I have no idea what someone following me must be experiencing though.
Previous owner installed them. It's fun to gun it in an underpass so I can actually hear the sound, but it is a bit loud.
I would like to find db-killer baffles for them, no luck finding them so far

My Devils give me a headache at highway speeds. They can be heard (and felt) at highway speed! If I know I'll be touring on a particular day, I'll put the baffles in.
I have scorpions and once again, wind noise is much louder at almost any road speed, especially on the highways. Earplugs are essential even without an aftermarket exhaust. Riding is much more comfortable when you aren't going deaf from the wind noise. Even the best sealed helmets are annoyingly loud.
