FZ6If you’re looking for one bike to perform a multitude of missions, look no further.
Take it from Cycle World* Magazine - “For a more advanced rider looking for a bike to do it all, there is no other choice.”
Well, finally the weather has turned for the good here in Kentucky and I got out and about today for about 3 hours. It was like breathing for the first time this year...it just felt so good!!!
I live in the Capital of Kentucky, Frankfort. So I figured why not take my camera along for the ride and snap some pics of the FZ6 in front of some of our state buildings and monuments.
First is the Old State Capitol Building...then the Kentucky Vietnam Veteran's Memorial...then the Governor's Mansion...and finally, the Kentucky State Capitol Building.
Yeah, we've got a huge Capitol building for a state with a relatively small population. Don't hold me to it, but I believe it's either the 2nd or 3rd largest state capitol building in the U.S. I'll get some more as Derby Day approaches (the first Saturday in May), once all the flowers have bloomed.
Looks like it was a beautiful day out there. I think you should post up the pic of your bike in front of the capitol building to the April picture contest. Throw a little politics into the mix, you know!

Great pics man. We took a more southerly route out past Harrodsburg and Historic Shaker Village. Give a shout and I'll catch up sometime.

Defy, nah, I won't be making it to the Derby this year. In fact, I've lived here my entire life (45 minutes from Churchill Downs) and I've NEVER been to a Derby!
I'll let you in on the best kept secret in Kentucky...the BEST day to go to Churchill isn't the "First Saturday In May"...it's the first FRIDAY in May. Oaks Day. It's when they run the Kentucky Oaks, the Kentucky Derby for fillies only. The crowd is much smaller, although still huge, they still serve Mint Juleps, and you get a much better all around experience of the races.
Derby Day is just WAY too packed, and by the end of the day, you're tired and don't want to fool with the drunks and traffic trying to get out of Louisville.
Silvrevo, I'll keep that in mind. I think you're right that the bike is much more photogenic when it's on the centerstand. Not that it's not ALWAYS photogenic!
Thanks jwlex! You're screen name looks familiar...hmm. I'm thinking I've seen you on another forum...maybe one specific to Kentucky or wildcats, or something? I'm always looking for new people to ride with...it's one of the things I love about riding, meeting new people. So yeah, I'll definitely have to catch up with you sometime!
So your receommnedations are based on what others have told you?
I've gone to the Derby the last four years in a row and have quite a few friends that I met in Chicago during college that were from there and have since moved back down. I agree with you, the infield is over-rated for sure and the whole scene is kinda crazy.
I know the deal...I don't even always go to the race...it's the friendly/happy people, the cheap prices, and the bars that stay open to 6AM that gets me there every year. This year I'm doing a track day on Saturday not too far from Louisville and then heading down that night for the post-derby Par-tee.
LOL...I was wondering how long it would take you to notice that! I took them off (not for good, just for now) until I can figure out the best places on the lenses to put the velcro. I didn't like the way I had it set up before. When the bike was running and the headlights were on, you could really see the velcro pieces. I didn't like the way it looked. So I'm going to do some experimenting.
It flew over my head wavex, so I'll bite...which one did you recognize?
Defy, not making any recommendations...lol. I've been to the Oaks every year for the last 12 or 13 years. I just meant that Oaks is like Derby Day without the craziness. And as you said, the bars stay open till 6 am...that's where the craziness should be!

Thanks Will...you're right, Sunday was amazing! Hey, where are you from in Kentucky? We were just talking on Nursefazer's thread about how many people from Kentucky have FZ6's.

Hi, I live Lexington. I work downtown and live out near the Hamburg area. I posted over in her thread too.

What is a "blue angel halo" mod? Sounds interesting.
That's cool Will. I work for the city of Lexington so you'll probably see me out and about sometime.
I believe the blue halo's are rings of light that mount in your headlights. I can't remember who, but someone has a picture of them as their avatar. It's that young guy, the 17-year-old...hmm.
Wavex, LarryC said I should post that one for consideration. It's a nice pic, but I seriously doubt anyone will give the first pic in that thread a run for their money!
