Default oil pan change - advice/gotchas?

I need to change my oil pan. Stripped the oil drain threads and cracked the pan when my cheapo torque wrench didn't trip.

So, any advice on removing/replacing the oil pan? I have the service manual and it looks pretty straightforward but you guys all have a LOT more experience with this type of stuff than I do so I thought I'd ask if there're any tricks or tips to make the job easier.

First thing I have to do is buy a proper torque wrench.

I know I recently read a post here on FZ6 SBN where the dude had a similar problem. I can't remember the member but try the search function.

You'll have to drop the headers, might as well clean them while they're off.

I had the exact same problem. I can understand the threads stripping, but that pan should not be cracking.

I had the dealer do the work, but it doesn't look that hard. I think there are gaskets to replace when you pull off the headers.

the pan should only crack if the drain bolt gets crossthreaded, no torque wrench can help you there.
