FZ6If you’re looking for one bike to perform a multitude of missions, look no further.
Take it from Cycle World* Magazine - “For a more advanced rider looking for a bike to do it all, there is no other choice.”
well i found you can still drag pegs with them, but still much better.
Hahaha...I worry, with the pegs too much higher, that the natural CoG of the bike+rider is shifted too far forward. ped, if you really want to, I could probably ask the fabrication shop I had these made at to make you a special set that rises higher and/or sit further back.
no i love them the way they are. they're higher than stock r6 pegs. i just need some springs i think. at least for now they allow plenty of room for improvement. i just took a weird line through a bumpy part of the track and nicked the right side a little.
Hey all...I got word from someone who installed these plates that they were able to "straighten" the shift peg lever and run the shift rod outside the frame. Shifting was reportedly smooth and they were excited to be using these for their track day (I believe it's today). I'm eagerly awaiting their pics and will post them as soon as I get them.

It's easy to run it outside the frame. All you have to do is drill out the ball joint on the factory shift linkage, and install a universal 6m ball joint (easy to get).... it would cost about $5 in total.
If you ever wanted to go back to the stock rear-sets, you would just reverse the install of the universal joint (in place of the stock joint)...
Make sense?!?!?!

Which is either item #6275K53 (right hand thread) or #6275K63 (left hand thread) from McMaster-Carr. You will need to look at the stock ball joint to see if the shank is RHT or LHT, and order the right ball joint. I can say for sure it is M6 x 1.0 threads.
Also, you would need the right spacers and washers to get the ball joint to fit snug in the hole made by drilling out the stock ball joint.
that'll be $1000 in casino cash for anybody that uses this method! And yes, you can transfer casino cash to other members.

i would imagine that you could put some extra spacers/washers on the mounting bolt between the plate and the frame to move it out more to make the shiftlinkage go out side of the frame without bending or drilling the linkage. my valter moto rearsets have something like this set up.
Updated first page with exciting new install instructions from Hellgate, mattcosta7, afrpreppie. 6 sets of Black left. Trying to get a set of silver ordered up.
Oddly, I stopped getting messages from sportbikes.net recently. :/
So, poutanen came close to finishing a new rod, but what happened to the project after he sold the bike? I am sure that more than a few people would be interested in it.

I've still got the parts for the shift linkage, I'll dig it up if someone is interested.
drunk post! I'm not sure at all where my test linkage is. I got it to work but it had too much play with the materials I was using. If someone were to use my concepts but use thicker stock, I think we'd have a winner. I was able to ride the bike 1+ hr with the shifter the way it was...

After reading the whole thread, you may have sent your test "product" to Wavex or oso2k? I am not good at fabricating stuff but if someone was selling this at a reasonable price I would definitely be interested.

Instead of shimming the entire rearset on the set back plate you can simply shim the shift lever itself. I added one extra washer, there is one stock one in there already. I just found one in my washer coffee can collection and put it in there. Be sure to re-locktite the bolt. You can add two washers if you like. It will all depend on how you have put the chicane in your shift rod.
GConn: I never received the shift rod parts from Poutanen and I don't think wavex did either.
motoxxxer1234: I have just 3 black sets left. No silver. I left message for the fabrication shop a couple weeks ago but they never got back to me. I also left them an email and they never responded to that either. I'm gonna try to drop by their place if I'm not too busy next week.
