Take it from Cycle World* Magazine - “For a more advanced rider looking for a bike to do it all, there is no other choice.”
+1 to what everyone else has said. I'm envious. North American Long Way Round.

You are my hero. I would love to take a trip like that. There are so many places I would love to see. A trip like that for me would be diffcult having a family. It should have been done during my bachelor years.
How was it riding alone and being by yourself for most of the trip? You must have a very outgoing personality!
Who knew Canada was much prettier than the states! The first half of your pictures were absolutely amazing. You could make the calendars for the next 5 years with those pics. The only decent pics in the states were ones you have already seen...Bryce Canyon, Grand Canyon, ooohhh the Golden Gate bridge...wow Mt Rushmore...blah,blah,blah. I'm moving to Canada. The roads look nicer too.

Amazing trip.. Once I started veiwing this thread I just couldn't stop. Very well put together. Some of the Canadian photos reminded me of English costal scenery and villages.
Kudos to you for putting it all together and then actually doing it. Maybe Yamaha, if they get wind of this, will use it in FZ6 promos. Maybe they'll even give you a nice new FZ6 for your next trip
Caladin,
Great post! I believe I met you at Devils Tower. My friend and I were on a trip from CT to SD, Wyoming and Montana. It was a rainy crappy day with low visibility. My photo looks just like yours. I rode on my FJR and had all my bags full plus a Tbag and I was amazed when you told us you packed all you needed plus your tent on a smaller bike. As it turns out, seeing you making a long trip made me realize I could have done my 6300 miles on a bike smaller than my FJR. So now I'm selling my 06 FJR and just ordered a leftover 07 FZ6. It was seeing you at Devils Tower that made me realize I could downsize and still do my travels. At this point I don't even have the new bike yet (next week) so I'm not certain what luggage I'll invest in. I look forward to travelling on a smaller, more nimble bike.
Fellow BC'er and FZ6'r. Great post, love all the pics. Couple questions, what did you tint your windscreen with? I am guessing those are givi bagsm therefore is that a givi rear bag mount? Where dod you get those from? Thanks! Sorry if you already answered this!

Wow! That's just to cool. I totally remember you! I hope you enjoy your FZ6 as much as I have enjoyed mine. An FJR was a bike I was once considering, but I don't see a need for it any more :p I never ever felt that my bike was underpowered at any point when it was loaded down with gear.
