Default Bike in the House + Rizoma RearSets + PICS

Decided to winterize the bike this year out of necessity. I plan on using the next few months to restore the bike to street legal trim. I'm going to keep it naked........and ready to crash.

Just put on some Rizoma rearsets for cheap (Props to thatguyx for sending me the eBay link). I'll be upgrading the rear shock and dropping one tooth up front. Besides that, I will probably remove or cut the rear hugger and I also need some bar end weights. Oooh yeah, I need some better looking race numbers (decals) for the track.

Anyway, the bike is all cleaned up and prepped to sit. I think it looks good sitting in my place...like a nice piece of artwork, right? I've got the dirt bike to play on and the FZ6 to mod...aaahhh...life on 2 wheels is good.

Lookin' really sweet. I'm jealous, I wish I could sit on my couch and look at my bike all day long.

I was going to go naked at the track after I saw what happened with your bike. That and it also looks pretty bad ass. Recently I was talking to a shop owner I know who races at VIR and point summit and he talked me out of it. He said when you go down with a naked bike, the handlebars and front end catch in the ground and it causes a lot more damage. He told me of a guy riding a naked who broke his arm when the bike caught the dirt and the guy didn't let go of the bars. He said bikes with fairings usually don't have as much devistating damage since they tend to slide more.

So I don't know if I will go your route or not, but your bike is turning out really nice.

I DO live on the second floor. It's an old bra factory with a functioning freight elevator! Check the 14' ceilings….

$310 shipped and they are mint

Yes I do have a garage…I keep my dirt bike and some friend's bikes in there. I wanted the FZ6 inside for a number of reasons.

Last time I crashed I had the fairing on...the bike flipped and came to a rest completely upside down.

Tell your guy's guy not to hold on...lol

Plastic is expensive but I can see how wrapping an object in smooth plastic would make it skim across the ground better in a lowside...not really something I'd weigh my decisions on too much though. The real benefit of a fairing is on the straights........

EDIT - by "ready to crash" I meant "cheap to fix" just a theory though...

Yeah, I don't know who would hold on to a tumbling 400lb bike, but... Yeah, I am still going to keep the faring on and just go with it, why not.

I really want rearsets. I bet they make a huge difference with the clipons. I might hid some money aside for them and not spend it on baby stuff.

I think it's common amoung poor struggling privateers; they try to hold on in an attempt to keep the bike from flipping/tumbling and to pull themselves out of the impact zone....but that's just what the ones I've talked to have told me.

If you do buy some, make sure you buy used AND make sure you've got enough $$$ leftover to hit up the track next season.

LOL ... so that even if I lose, no one gets it cheap ... anyways I was ready to pay only 150 for it. I knew someone was desperate to get them so just jacked up the price bit by bit.
Kidding!!

Well I'm assuming with those hard floors that blipping would be necessary. In my house (concrete floors) its the only way to go.

Planning on doing whatever looks best...but yes...I'm thinking that it will look damn good in flat black....chrome would look silly on my bike.

I really want a 2007+ swingarm and I have a second set of wheels which are black...the black/silver combo looks pretty good IMO.

I'll be sure to get your approval before doing any painting
