Garmin 26xx series or 27xx series. My 2730 has the entire U.S. on it, plays MP3's, comes with an XM reciever, and has a headphone jack.

If you want a older 2610 you can get them for a good price if you look around. Real good GPS that will do what you want with no frills.

Whatever you do buy a GPS with flash memory not a hard drive. Hard drives will not handle the vibrations of a motorcycle well. Many instances of them failing.

Default Ram Mount

What type of ram mount did you buy? Sturdy?

I'm looking into a Garmin GPSMAP 60CX (or CSX) simply because I want to be able to use it while camping/hunting as well.

The mount itself comes with the GPS unit... the only things I bought to make it fit the handlebar are:
- butterfly nut + screw
- couple of washers
- clamp with rubber protection (see last picture)...

I found all of that @ the Home Depot lol

It fits perfectly though and is easily adjustable up and down and left and right... It also makes it easy to take off if I need to use the mount in my car (it also comes with a car windshield mount + car power cord + usb cable...)

Negative. Well I don`t think it would mind a few drops, but I would definitely not leave it out like this if it`s pooring...

I ride in California... we don`t know rain around here anyway

Never had an issue... and I had it mounted on LA freeways, which as you may know SUCK and are very bumpy... oh and I also had it mounted all day when doing our Socal Ride with PCHBreeze (see video in my signature below)... we did 500+ miles in one day from twisties to bumpy roads to freeways... did not move a bit.

(wavex) I know I'm asking a shitload of questions but all the website just give really broad descriptions. Do you use the MP3 player? What computer program to do transfer your download from? (limewire, itunes, napster ect.)

I tried the MP3 player and it worked fine, however, since I already had another player (with much more room), I usually listen to my music from the creative player, not the Mio. The advantage of the Mio is that you can get SD cards though...

I personally hate 3rd party programs to organize my MP3s... which is why I did not buy an IPOD... I like to be able to treat my player like a USB drive, i.e. plug in any computer and drag and drop the mp3s... no need for itune or any other crap. The Mio worked fine doing just that.

The way I organize my music is simple: one folder called "MP3", which includes other folders by genre (ROCK, HOUSE...), which include the full albums (I don`t do singles or individual mp3 files... full album or nothing).
I download my mp3s from private FTP sites...... don`t ask me the details on that one

It's got an internal flash memory, with all US maps and some room for more... but there's an SD flash card slot on top... so you can plug your own cards in there...
