FZ6If you’re looking for one bike to perform a multitude of missions, look no further.
Take it from Cycle World* Magazine - “For a more advanced rider looking for a bike to do it all, there is no other choice.”
And I was just going to post how I left off my oil fill plug after my first oil change........Boy I was pissed to see all that oil all over my new Sidi boots!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't know what JUST reminded me of this thread...but I thought I'd bump it since it's a good reminder (in light of all the crashing) that we're not only up the need to handle a 2 wheel machine, traffic, road debri, and animals...we also have to properly maintain our machines if we want to avoid accidents without relying on LUCK alone.

The look of the back end of the bike said it all.....ever seen oil dripping off every part of the back end? Not a sight you really want to see.
With all the bad drivers and gravel and SNOW that we're up against and this guy almost took himself out. I mean, it's one thing to t-bone a car that cuts you off, but this is in a whole other league. Yeah, we all make mistakes but this is a borderline darwin mistake.
Hopefully there were not any other riders who came across all this oil whilst NOT driving defensively enough....
you should know all the details leading up to the mistake to really underastand the situation.
I see the flame war starting, and I'm way more mature to start it with you.
ohhh so all the unknown details in your situation justify that you almost killed yourself and other riders behind you, but you don`t need details in other ppl's situations to unload your crap on them huh?
Interesting.
"way more mature" good one!
I never get tired of internet especially when I have a slow day at work, so thanks for that Mag.
no, i could probably go back and re-read the beginning post, but i don't really need to. there were alot of factors that lead up to the incident and I listed them all did I not? had any one of those links been broken the incident never would have transpired, and that sir connects directly to my whole philosophy of defensive driving. A philosophy I tend to believe is good way to ride safe.
I don't think I've ever come on here saying I'm perfect, others seem to make that claim though. I appreciate the way people make me seem like superman, but you're just showing your stupidity with that claim. Save yourself the embarassment people. I'm not superman.
I make mistakes just like the rest, the only thing is i accept when I have screwed up and don't blame others. That is a trend that is seen far to often on here with "not my fault".
We discussed this issue a while back already, and I believe most members recognize your point, which is that defensive riding is key to avoid accidents, and it is the responsability of the rider to break those "links" to make sure accidents are avoided, because no matter whose fault it is, the rider is the one who will lose against a car/truck...
All of that is clear for everyone...
2 issues:
- the way you address people like they`re dumbasses... which is funny since all the ppl that met you in real life say that you`re shy and introverted... (it`s easier to be an ass when behind a keyboard huh?).
- you come off like you NEVER make mistakes... it's just the way you come off... sounds like accidents would NEVER happen to you... that's what annoys ppl, not the message you`re trying to convey.
Finally, in hindsight, every accident can be avoided one way or another... with "ifs" you can fix the stock market tomorrow. I agree that most ppl will not take responsibility for an accident, but that's just the way ppl are, and you won`t change that by calling them out and insulting them.
In Robot's case, a cager that was a few feet ahead pulled in front of him... this shit happens... the cager broke the law, it`s the cager's fault.
Could he have avoided it? sure he could have... there are millions of way he could have, the first one was to not buy an FZ6 in the first place.
