Reason I say that is my best friend hit a deer when doing about 60mph, he never had a chance to react, all he saw was a blur and then impact. He survived but got beat up pretty bad. I guess your response would be "he shouldn't have been riding at that spot at that time"

don't be a dipshit.....it's avoidable and not even worth arguing with you about it.
I personally have hit 1 moose and 2 deer in trucks and believe me, I've learned it's preventable. slow down, widen your view and you're a thousand percent more likely to not hit a deer....and don't stop there, you can add a few other defensive driving skills and you'll be even that much more unlikely to hit one.
you're friend hit one cause he wasn't paying attention, end of story.

Accidents
Most accidents can be avoided. But we are human and do make mistakes, and somethings just can not be avoided.
Ask a Trooper and they will say "head up ass" is the primary cause of accidents.
Officially, they will say "unsafe speed" is the term, in the context of "for the conditions then and there existing." But that is not the whole story. The real cause is the combination of factors. Such as rider riding fast, does not know that haybaler is broke down in a blind corner, failed to check his air pressure and break fluid before ride, or fix that other known or unknown mechanical issue with his equipment. Rider then will panic, and fail to avoid the accident. If he's and "old timer", and no motorcycle rider course, he'll "lay it down or over" rather than try and stop or avoid the object. "It was all I could do. I had now other choice."
Again as with all accidents it is never just one thing, it is a combination of errors, some become quite comical, little events that that pile up to the moment that it just all goes to pieces and someone loses their life.
Good riders know this and "avoid' placing themselves and even others users on the road in a position that will put anyone at risk. They drive within the limits of man and machine for the moment and conditions at all times, avoid "risky behavior", and can make a controlled safe stop at any moment in all conditions at all times.
Reckless riders or inexperienced riders fail to do this, and take risk. This becomes all the difference in the world between lasting 6 mo. in the saddle or a lifetime. That does not mean that there are the cases where nothing in the world would have made a difference, the recent I-35 bridge collapse, if you where there only fate, dumb luck, and Gods hand would spare you. But these are the exception to the rule and rare events compared to the raw data of all the motorcycle accidents that happen everyday.
Wear your helmet, ride within the bounds of the law, while defensively sharing the road.

My bad! Now I feel even more honored and privileged to have the opportunity to learn from your obvious expertise and knowledge. I'm certainly not worthy.

Why don't you try telling that to Lawrence Grodskey. He was a far better rider that you or me and taught motorcycle safety.

Here is a perfect example....
First crash...
I wonder what a better more experienced rider would have done...perhaps the samething, perhaps not.

First of all a more experienced would have never been on a Slowzuki GS500. 2nd the kid probably was doing the speed limit and through a turn you should always use front brakes to slow down cuz the rear brake will lock up and you'll lowside. So all and all, dude should have learned how to use his brakes.
I'll admit ive put myself into some sticky situations. Slipped on some gravel turning into a Taco Bell awhile back, that was preventable. Wrecked my bike racing a GSXR and didnt have much knowledge or skill to negotiate a turn at a high speed. One common mistake people who crash are guilty of is flying down unknown roads and not taking the time to learn the road to find the trouble spots i.e. gravel, cracks, pot holes, wildlife, and side roads that people turn off of

I understand this guy was a friend of yours, but unless you were inside his head, knowing his thoughts and his decisions at that particular time, you cannot tell me his experience was not at fault. we simply do not know and never will.
Experience should have prevailed....you go down for any reason, there is clearly a lack of experience to some degree at play.

Sir? May I comment, please? May I?
Listen to yourself.... "unless you were inside his head, knowing his thoughts and his decisions at that particular time, you cannot tell me his experience was not at fault. we simply do not know and never will". So get off your high and mighty "know it all" seat and go crawl back under your own rock!

with these stats:
Motorcycle Rider Fatalities as Percent by Age Group (2004)
Age Group:<20 20-29 30-39 40-49 50-59 >59
Percent: 6.2 26.0 21.7 24.2 16.1 5.7
I want to see actual #s of riders in the age group and whether the population was increasing or decreasing. I see an awful lot of Boomers spending their retirements on two wheeled toasters... They count in the squid category if you ask me.
oh, and immakillu4fun187 , I believe the OP of the story is a "dudette"
