FZ6If you’re looking for one bike to perform a multitude of missions, look no further.
Take it from Cycle World* Magazine - “For a more advanced rider looking for a bike to do it all, there is no other choice.”
Thanks for this awesome how-to! Just did my 8000 mile change (for NGK Iridiums). Took me a little over an hour (#1 is a serious PITA) but figured it out in the end.
The NGK Iridium part # is CR9EIX- The only place I found them locally is through NAPA. $8.50 ea in stock at the warehouse.
Just curious, who has used them for any length of time. How many miles can you reasonably expect from them? I changed my stock plugs at 11000 miles, and they still looked to be in good shape.

Glad to see so many people are finding it useful. I got my new wheel bearings in the mail this weekend, maybe a photo-document for how to replace chain, sprockets, and wheel bearings?

I will be trying this this weekend!! How the hell have people been doing this before? I started to go in through the top this evening, but I stopped after I removed the tank, air filter, battery, and was still no where close! WTF
Just did the plugs at 16K, what a jack ass I am for not doing it sooner. I have much more power and better mpg's. You loose power so slowly you don't realize it's gone.
I am gonna change my plugs @ 8K from now on!.
Oh yeah I did replace one plug at a time just to avoid the possibility of dropping something into the cyl. I did have a bit of a hassle getting #1 wire off but no other problems
Thanks jeepcoma, I used this thread yesterday. Changed to iridiums at 9500 miles.
The only thing I might add next time is a 14mm box end ratchet wrench.
The 14mm supplied with the bike tool kit kept slipping. I finally went and got a 14mm 6 point socket and a ratchet. That worked much better.
One question to everyone, how come the service manual calls for iridium plugs, but when you take out the ones from the factory, they're just regular plugs?

Thanks again for the write up! I just got done changing the plugs, and it was a breeze!! It took me a little bit over an hour, but that was just because it was my first time doing it and I took a little extra time.
The only thing I would recommend to others doing this is to definitely unbolt the radiator! It takes just a few minutes and saves a ton of time. I unbolted it when I got to the #1 plug, but left it unbolted until I had replaced all of the plugs. It helps a ton on the #1, but also helps when replacing the #2-4 plug wires.
My plugs were damn near black when I pulled them! It had been way too long (16k, the amount of time that I have owned the bike) and I can't wait to take it for a spin and feel the difference.
This job just took me roughly 3 hours. Of course the phone kept ringing and I took a lunch break but wow, what a job. My right hand is roughed up from cramming it in to reach the plugs. I think next time I'll pay sixty bucks for someone else to do this.
