oso2k, my wife IS an accountant and she's not that anal!

Lt Sully, I am in seacoast NH, all well below 1000 ft evelvation. I weigh 230 lbs and drive more for mileage with a lot less of the twisties. I'm averaging 210 miles before hitting reserve and have never made it more than 5 miles into reserve. I do fill to the grill to the point the gas cap almost will not close without squeezing out fuel. I'm typically at 4 to 5k. I have a short stretch on the highway and then three choices for back roads to get to work. Hope that helps!!

I've gone 53 miles on E. and filled it up with 5.3 gallons once. I think the pump at the station was a little off. Same story, was running late for work and forgot I was on empty and ran out on the highway. Rocked it side to side a little and restarted and made it another mile and half to a station. Still made it to work on time.

I usually go about 200 miles before going on reserve. Then it takes about 3.6 gallons to fill it up. I weigh 220+ and have a tall windshield. I also have a Givi case on the back which I'm sure doesn't affect it much at all.
If mine does go to reserve I'm looking for a gas station pretty quick.

Additional info: I have tall yamaha windshield, Givi topcase (with 10lbs of stuff in it), and I weigh 170lbs. And as I metioned before, I was really ripping on it for the last 50 miles (basically the entire reserve). I reset my tripometer at fill-up so I can figure out my mileage on this next tank.

Just catching up and caught this. As I engine brake too, thought I'd chime in.

I would think it would as the revs are higher longer when engine braking than they are if you hold in the clutch (which drops the engine speed to idle) and just brake.

BC Canada here

Mix of city/highway-mostly highway.

325km/tank, which is about 200 miles per tank.

Running custom throttle sync outside of factory specs. Tuned regularily with old fashioned carb sticks. Not sure just how much difference that makes here.

But I would think if you are engine braking with a closed or nearly closed throttle it would use the same gas as having the clutch in and zero throttle? You are essentially using the engine compression to slow down so even at higher revs it isn't sucking much gas when engine braking.

I get between 185 and 200 miles (300-320 kms) to a tank. Stock FZ6 with a slight exhaust leak that everyone is jealous of (right Jeff?) because it has a great rumble to it.

I have gone as far as 60kms on reserve which is 37.5 miles.

I did have scorpion pipes for a few months, but my fuel mileage went in the tank (no pun intended) and I lost about 100 kms per tank in mileage. So if you want to keep the great fuel mileage, keep your exhaust system bone stock and don't mess with it!

Oh, and that big honking rear fender keeps rain and mud off your back quite nicely

I had my TPS replaced 3 tanks ago.

The most recent fillup, yesterday:

197 miles when the reserve flashing bar came on.
200.3 miles when I hit the gas station.
4.092 gallons (right to grill in the tank neck).

Averaged MPG over that tank: 48.95 MPG.

That's interesting... If you look at the anal guys spreadsheet his gas mileage really didn't change after he put his Scorps on...
