FZ6If you’re looking for one bike to perform a multitude of missions, look no further.
Take it from Cycle World* Magazine - “For a more advanced rider looking for a bike to do it all, there is no other choice.”
i usually get in between 160-200 before reserve light depending on how much is on the interstate to and from work between weekend rides... and how much i twist the throttle...

225 miles before I ran out of gas last week. Said it was 41 miles into reserve when I coasted into the station. Mostly highway miles at between 35-80 mph. I think I would go 200 miles with easy riding before looking for gas. Mileage is about 20-25% less when riding 2-up. I always fill to the bottom of the screen with bike on side stand.
How do you know how many miles into the reserve you used?

Uh, it starts counting backwards once it hits reserve? You know, that little "E" thingy pops up and such.
Oh, I'm 160lbs. and ride between almost sea level and about 1500 ft during my normal commute, also don't know what part it plays but I'm in California with its "special" gasoline formulations.
Hey, running out of gas wasn't on purpose, but I have run into more than a few bikers who do run their bikes to empty to see how far they go - kind of a hold over from the days of bikes without gauges I guess. Makes sense, though...at least to me.
I get about 180+ before the reserve counter starts. Daily trips around town and to work are at sea level. Weekend trips to the twisties run up to about 6000 ft. Moderately aggressive with the wick.
Not a jockey, 205 lbs and of course it never gets cold here

No need to apologize. I think once I start commuting and stop ripping it around the backroads, my mileage will improve. I also engine brake all the time and that might suck up a lot more gas.
I got to 345km, and that was 20km into reserve without knowing how much was left. That tank of fuel got me through about 64km of twisties all in 3rd or 4th gear and then the rest was of highway travel at a fair rate of knots. I'm pretty happy with that.
Dude...this is beyond ANAL. Are you an accountant? Forget balancing TONYZAGOD's checkbook...can you come over and setup my filing system. You have SKILLS!
BTW...if I may ask, what do you weigh?
Sully
Hahaha...Just a software engineer. I don't do filing as I'm a firm believer in the Radix Sort Method (similar to the "Pile Method").
FWIW, I'm 5'9" & about 225 lbs. I actually get better mileage w/the gf on the back end (another 145 lbs.) rather than solo. She makes the bike more straight line stable and I believe that's what causing the better mileage. There is less wasted energy when I hit bumps. I have my rear always set to 7 preload (full stiff).
As for mpg, my best has been 59.24mpg and worst 52.04mpg. After almost 4,000 miles of which about 3,400 has been commuting miles, my average is 54.17mpg. And yes, I track it in Excel
I used to track it in Excel but having access to my data anywhere, independent of who's or what computer I'm using means Google Spreadsheets wins out.
.... I also engine brake all the time and that might suck up a lot more gas.
I engine brake a lot myself, but I still get 50+ mpg now (warmer, and no more winter mix and long idles). Last tank was 51.5 - 201 miles with 3.9 gallons to fill (didn't even start on the reserve). I fill it sitting on it keeping it straight up and to the bottom of the screen.
I have a 23 or so mile commute. About 15 is 50-55 mph highway (though not freeway) and the rest is city-like riding with lights and stop signs. I tend to keep revs in the 3-5k range. That's the majority of the riding as I don't really get to do too much fun riding (not by choice, but lack of free time).
got about 220 miles before the reserve came on and both times took less than 4 gal's. Average was 55.85 or so mpg's.
70 miles each way commute, all highway but often in traffic. I do engine brake (does that really reduce mpg's?)
was averaging lower 50's. Only difference is I took the huge saddle bags off and possibly getting on the "summer" blend of gas?
My reserve comes on around 160 miles usually, now I am a new rider, and I think I probably ride it rather hard/inconsistantly. I also use it to commute through traffic to both my jobs. Usually When I fill up it.s at about 4.3 gallons and around 200 miles, so I figure just over 40 mpg
190 miles before reserve starts flashing is pretty normal for me.
That's usually only about 3.6 gallons and mostly backroad spirited riding...I never have the revs below 5K and normally the revs are between 6-9K in any given gear when I ride. It may help some that I'm 5'7" and 135 lbs. I always downshift and engine brake when coming to a stop and I do a 1-2 gear blast to 12K rpms at least once every 30 riding miles.
