FZ6If you’re looking for one bike to perform a multitude of missions, look no further.
Take it from Cycle World* Magazine - “For a more advanced rider looking for a bike to do it all, there is no other choice.”
I really don't even pay attention to what I pay at the pump
I ALWAYS look at the price at the pump... the price of gas at the station in the picture below was .70 cents more than the station right across the street.

Hahaha...the trick to balancing your check book is to not use it. I use my credit card like a debit card, plus I get 2% back on all purchases. Just pay off the credit card every month (the 'like a debit card' part) and you never get hit with finance charges. Really, it's just one charge you have to balance instead of dozens (or in my case 100s of charges).
I actually started using PNC Bank's bill pay, I have all my bills directly taken from my checking account, and then quicken downloads the data from the bank daily, so no more balancing for me. =)

I have a feeling you are talking about this guy because NO ONE actually trying to stay in business and not conducting a protest would be priced that far outside the market price.

About 180-190 miles on a tank before I slip into reserve. Mostly interstate during the week. Approximately 100 miles to work and back.
Fuel is a little worse on the weekends, maybe about 160-170 miles
Call me stupid...I wasnt aware of the RESERVE. I've only had to refuel twice thus far, and I didnt run it that low.
What indication do you get when it goes to reserve, and where?
225 miles before I ran out of gas last week. Said it was 41 miles into reserve when I coasted into the station. Mostly highway miles at between 35-80 mph. I think I would go 200 miles with easy riding before looking for gas. Mileage is about 20-25% less when riding 2-up. I always fill to the bottom of the screen with bike on side stand.
Great info here....being that you actually ran out of gas and know how many miles you drove on reserve.
So...I can expect to get somewhere between 190-235 (if I fill on the center stand).
Keep the same kinda records on my 07 R6S and 05 Tundra...
Works out to about $0.06/mile on the FZ6, almost $0.07/mile on the R6S, and over $0.19/mile in the Tundra.
Dude...this is beyond ANAL. Are you an accountant? Forget balancing TONYZAGOD's checkbook...can you come over and setup my filing system. You have SKILLS!
New bike almost ready for my DIY 600 mi oil change
I start looking for a gas station with last bar showing
Filled up Saturday after riding 176 miles since last fill up = 47-1/2 mpg
I don't track as close as oso2k but I do have a palm pilot with a database that I enter this kinda stuff in. Helps keep an eye on performance.
And helps to answer questions like this one...

I'm in Minneapolis and just put the first tank into my '07.
Put it on the centerstand and filled right past the grill to a litle under the cap.
(without knowing that was the preferred method to getting the most mileage)
I'll post the mileage when I need another fill up.
I live in Bonham, TEXAS. Most of the year I can and do ride, about 2000 miles per month.
I have averaged 45 mpg since new. I have installed a 17T front sprocket, I estimate it has improved fuel economy about 1-2 mpg, at all speeds. I have a checked and corrected for odometer and speedometer error.
Best is 58.9 mpg @ 55 mph, and was tucked in under the windshield, using a throttle lock, no adjustment for hills (If I slowed, I slowed and pull to the right and allowed other traffic to pass, I live in a relatively flat area though, and travel on lightly traveled country roads. Tank range was over 235 miles before reserve.
Normal commuting 70-75mph, 30 miles one way mostly highway cold weather 40-60 degrees I get 42-44 mpg with winter gas. Warm weather 60-80 degrees, 45-48 mpg+. Over 80 degrees, 50 mpg+(summer gas).
Temps affects mpg the most, other than how hard you twist the throttle. Range during cold weather below 40 degrees is about 160, 50 degrees is about 180 miles before reserve, 60+ degrees 180 to 200 miles before reserve. Normal summer riding is 50+mpg.
My wife and I have taken several back road 60-65 mph trips and have averaged 50 -52 mpg.
I figure on 45 mpg and and expect to ride 180 miles before the reserve indicator comes for my normal commute. I ride every day, over 22,000 miles on my 2005 model, bought new in Aug. 2005. I always fill up using the center stand (avg. 4.5 - 4.8 gallons), attempt to use the same pump and station when possible. You should expect your reserve to run out at 40 miles if you ride below 70 mph, after that your on riding on a prayer.
I just passed the 1000 mile mark with my 04 FZ6 and I just filled up and got about 37 miles to a tank. I do about 95% city driving and I drive it like I stole it so I believe thats why I get bad mileage. When I start taking it to work over the bridge to white plains I'm hoping I get way better mileage than 37 MPG. I'll be happy with 45MPG. Its better than my cage which gets only about 20 MPG

Average about 47 MPG during my commutes which is some freeway and some city streets.
I will say this: Last Saturday I filled up near my house, rode on ther freeway for about 25+ miles at about 90 MPH (I know this because I was pulled over by the CHP), we rode at a brisk pace up Hwy 243 (mostly in 3rd gear with a few stretches to 5th) and back. About 150 miles and I got 55 MPG on that run. Go figure!
Ooops...I guess I can go over 200 miles per tank but haven't yet gone over 160 before filling up.

Hi Lt Sully,
Welcome to the site and as no one else has done this, let me be the first to call you stupid.
"Stupid"
I don't ride hard and tend to keep revs below 7000rpm (I get shit for this but am rewarded with very good gas mileage). My lower mpg figures come when I ride above this figure.
I'm not sure what effect altitude plays in mpg but I live at 7000ft and I commute year round (weather permitting - real crappy 06/07 winter in the Rockies so couldn't ride for over 2 months). My commute is about 36 mile round trip and a mix of 2/3 highway and 1/3 city.
As for mpg, my best has been 59.24mpg and worst 52.04mpg. After almost 4,000 miles of which about 3,400 has been commuting miles, my average is 54.17mpg. And yes, I track it in Excel
My best range on a tank, including reserve, was 272 miles. Normally I hit reserve at around the 215 mile mark and I know I have another 40 or so miles before I'd run out of gas. I generally fill up around the 240 mile mark just to be safe.
Oh, apart from frame sliders, bike is completely standard.
