A few pics of mine. I basically got the idea from another person on this forum. I used a product called K&H Bumper Black, probably only available in Aus. Was cheap from work, did this screen, an R/C car body and still had half a can left. Also used some Shellite thinners to remove any grim, didn't sand the screen first, and it was ready to go on the bike the next morning.

Thanks,

Close up you can see a few rough edges from the masking tape, especially where I went around the Yamaha logo. I was really happy with it, considering I expected to make a right mess of it.

You can see ok when tucked down at the drags, though I wouldn't tuck right down, like chin on tank, on a highway etc. Not much side visability.

I painted mine since the sides are so hard to clean the dust out. Now if the sides are dirty who cares you can't see them.

That looks like mine except I painted the center blue where you left it clear.

I like the look of these painted windscreens. If I wanted to go with the 05 blue to match do you think the color rite aerosol would work (Color Rite Distributing Co.)? I see most people are using black krylon made specifically for plastics. Also do you think painting just the inside with the blue would look ok or would I have to do both sides and possibly a top coat? Thanks for any tips or advise.

I'm thinking about doing the same pattern red devil has but with the 06 blue. i painted my front fender earlier this week with some color rite DPMC 5815 blue, it came out ok. i think i needed another wet coat to get the color to come out brighter. in certain lights the blue fender seems darker (but not pre-06 dark).

my experience with color rite paint is that it bonds well with plastics (it has a flex agent in it already). for the windshield I plan on painting the front only and putting on a layer or two of clear. painting through the back only might be ok, but if you have scratches on your windshield it will show. also the color won't look exactly right because of the actual clearness/slight opaqueness/angle of light on the shield. you might have to worry about how the paint goes on too. if it's messed up you can't really wetsand it to fix anything if you paint the inside. best do the outside.

This is mine with darker anti-reversion louvers (lol)

You cant tell but the silver fades to a lighter color closer to the top

Awesome, if you don't mind I am going to use that for my next screen. My current one suffered a major crack from a stone and when the $$ allow I want to replace it.

You can get a new stock screen from ronayers.com for ~$30 + shipping.

Go right ahead. I feel honored that you like it enough to want to use the paint scheme on your own bike. It's quite a compliment.
