New to FZ6 Forum, Click Here First for Good Info:
First off, Welcome. You have made a very smart choice with your purchase of the FZ6; not just because of the bike alone, but because of all the very knowledgeable and resourceful members that hang out in this FZ6 Forum.
Because of all the knowledgeable and resourceful guys and gals we have here, there is a ton of good information to sift through to find the info you are looking for. Therefore, I am going to try to break it down for you in hopes that I can make it a little easier for you to find the information you are looking for.
First of all you will notice two sub-forums: FZ6 Mods and FZ6 Classifieds.
In the FZ6 Mods sub-forum is where you will find and post any topics regarding aftermarket modifications to the FZ6. This could range from bolt on modifications to user custom modifcations. At the top of the the FZ6 Mods Sub-forum is a sticky'd thread titled "FZ6 Aftermarket Mods". In the first post of this thread there is a list I compiled of almost all the FZ6 Aftermarket Modifications that are available, along with some good common user modifications. Please post up in this thread to any FZ6 Aftermarket Modifications that are out there to help continue the growth of this list.
In the FZ6 Classifieds section you will find FZ6 specific parts and bikes for-sale, and even WTB (want to buy) posts. This is a great place to start if you are looking to purchase an FZ6, because the individual has been a member of this forum, and we all pretty much have followed the life of the bike. If you already own an FZ6 then this is a good place to pick up any parts you made need because of a recent drop. There is also members who once decide to sell their FZ6 will part out their Aftermarket modifications.
Now back in the Main FZ6 Forum you will find several posts sticky'd at the top. They range from recent FZ6 events that are going on, to a thread for you to post up and show off a photo of your bike.
The sticky'd thread that you should take notice to first is the " FZ6 Topics Worth Linking" thread. If you have a question about something about the FZ6, then most likely it has been asked before. And if it has become a common question and discussion, then I have posted a link to that question/discussion thread in the 'FZ6 Topics Worth Linking' thread. You will also find other threads linked in the first post of this thread that I felt...well...were worth linking too. An example is a link to a Comprehensive Thread on Tires. In this thread I have compiled a list of links to good threads on various Tire topics, from Replacing the Tire Yourself, to member reviews and recommendations of Sport Touring Tires for the FZ6.
After you have looked through those threads, and you still have a question, it is probably still a good chance it has been discussed here, therefore check out the search function.

You'll probably be frustrated at first with the search function. You will either return little or no results, because your search is too specific, or you will return a gazillion reults because your search keyword is too broad. Don't worry over time you will get good with it, and learn the proper keywords, and it will soon be your friend to help find your way through the maze of information that is here.
If after all that you still have a question or are just like the attention, then post up, and some one or some ones will guarantee to answer your question or point you in the right direction. You can even PM me , and I will be glad to help you out the best I can. But if it bike specific, even though I AM a fellow FZ6 rider, posting it up for everyone to see would benefit all.
Well, that is all I can think of for now. I'll will add more as I think of it.
Again, Welcome to the greatest FZ6 community.

HA! I already know more than the salesman does! I thought they were supposed to know about the stuff they sell. I asked him how many bikes have come back with TPS troubles, and he looks at me with this 'WTF is that' look. Oh don't worry I'll get it, it's just a matter of when. As I told Mag, timing is a huge issue.

I don't think many people look in here after they first start, check out the main forum for details of the TPS and to ask for view (although I'd recommend using SEARCH first..... )

FZ6 Newb reporting in
Hello boys & girls,
I've been lurking for a while and gathering information from this site - thank you. Based on what I learned fro you I purchased my FZ6 Saturday and put 200 miles on yesterday - so far so good. I have been riding for a little over 30years and also own a BMW R1100GS in full sport turing set-up; street rubber, D&D pipe, chip, yadda, yadda, yadda.
I haven't read all of the threads here yet and suspect most of my questions are answered therein so I won't take too much space with them now. But bascially I am interested in sport turing and occaisional track days. To that end I am interested in learning about taller windshields & the smaller gear up front (15 teeth?).
My bike is an '04 with 2700 miles. They put on a Corbin seat, braided front brake lines and M4 slip ons. It appears they spent more time fiddling with it than riding it. The brake lines are groovy, the jury is still out on the Corbin seat and the M4's have gotta go. If there is anyone in the DFW area who has stock, or at least somewhat quieter, mufflers I might be willing to swap.
Count me as a maybe for the Oct 20, '06 Deal Gap ride.
Cheers,
Boyd

Finally Gettin' Mine
Just to say hello,
I am picking up my FZ6 this Saturday. I have been looking through this forum for a couple of weeks and the information on the board helped me make the decision to buy. I was scoping one on ebay but found one here!

Hello All,
Picking up my Red FZ6 today! Longtime cruiser rider first sportbike. I put about 16K mi on my 02' R* a year and wanted to give it a breather from the commuting. I've owned a V65, both the Magna and the Sabre, neither really sportbikes but they would go fast. Looking forward to a different style of riding.
See you on the road.
remember to drink and ride responsibly
if you can't do both then a least ride responsibly

Hey all,
Just thought I'd throw my name out there as a NOOB. I've been riding dirt bikes ~ 35 years now and recently,10years ago got into street bikes. Although I have a 03 1800 Gold wing that the wife and I tour the U.S. on I really want a FZ6. There is a 2006 down the road from where I live that they are asking $5,600 but I am going to offer $5,000 and see where it goes. I guess my question is, "Are there a lot of differences in the remapping of the CPU of the 07 versus the 06?? TIA.
keep it rubber side down,
Bcutter
