Doh, it's fixable and the best part is the frame was saved.

The acerbis diamond fairing is a love it or hate it piece man, you might hate the way it looks in person once ya get it on and believe me when i say I get odd looks from other bike people when I usually pull up lol. On a brighter note everyone will think you're a stunter ;).

shit sry to see you go down, glad u could walk away...

at least you did a good job of it, no half arsed effort there.

Still gets me, ive been down twice and not one scratch/dent on the tank at all... And yet i think every other unfortunate person to go down has damaged the tank...

Sorry to hear Killer! Glad to hear you weren't more seriously hurt tho. Thats what 5ucks about riding after big snow, all that sand and gravel they throw out all over the road...

Glad you made it out ok.
Quick question for Segue about #2... How would covering the clutch help in this situation? Not disagreeing w/ you. Just a n00b here trying to get more pointers. Thanks man.

Yeah, I'm not gonna worry about the tank because I never sold the spare that I have, so I'm lucky in that respect. I'm ordering some drag bars today probably, gonna remove some more broken stuff later too and see what I have to work with here. Anyone need any left side plastics and mirror? The right side mirror didnt look too damaged actually, the long piece didnt break at all, so if someone needs that I'll probably be selling it here soon too.

Some close ups of the slider, the base was deformed slightly, but the frame area was completely undamaged. I had to cut of a chunk of the inside of the slider because I couldn't back it out with out it rubbing against the frame (Its bent pretty bad). The threads in the block are perfect, I put the original bolt back in for now, putting some engine oil on it to make sure it went in smoothly.

Also, I have decided on the Acerbis Cyclops headlight for the time being. I'll eventually restore it back to original or to the true naked looks, but for now this will be fine for me. Does anyone with a naked bike have a picture of the back of the speedometer so I can see how they mount it? I'm trying to figure out how to do this the best way and be able to hide most of the wires behind the number plate. I'll also be buying some cable sleeving to dress up some of the cables back there, I'm hoping it will improve the looks considerably.

I can probably afford to do the full fix (either naked or faired) during the summer when I'll actually be able to work.
Dude, the fairings are probably about the same price. I have the (faster) blue bike, and switched out all of the purplish colored fairing pieces with black ones from the (slower) silver bike and it only cost $200 for EVERYTHING from Mr.Cycles. The only retartedly expensive piece was the front fender. The purplish one cost under $20, the black one was over $60!?!? WTF??? Anyway, the point is that it is probably not as expensive as you think for the pieces you need. Naked LOOKS nice, but if you ride a lot, you WILL miss that fairing.
Oh, and YES, that guy was right... there WAS a possibility that you could have gotten a ticket if a cop was around and feeling pissy. Especially if he was around to hear it happen, he could have misconstrued the pinned throttle with a seriously failed wheelie attempt.
Glad to hear you and your bike are relatively OK.

Not to mention all the little screws that went missing when the plastic shattered. And you also forgot other things such as the handlebar, a new brake fluid resevior cap, one of the reflector brackets, ect. I dont have enough $$ right now to comfortably do a complete restoration, so I'm just gonna get the $120 headlight and go naked.

most of my driving is around town at 50mph or less. The only long trips I take are when I drive to and from school a couple times a month, its about 4 hours each way and isn't too bad at all.

Covering the clutch on slow turns will allow a rider to feather it quickly and allows for a smoother throttling. In the event of a tire slip, it will also give an instant disengagement of the motor to the wheel.

*Note on terminology: Covering the clutch means that it is always a part of your turning procedure and depending on what the situation is, you form the habit of being prepared to use it instantaneously as and when it is needed.*

As for what happened to Killer, he said that he grabbed a handful of throttle as the bike leaned for a lowside. If he was on the clutch feathering, that abrupt surge of throttle might not have happened so drastically to cause the highside even if he had WOT it.
